Jaguar has launched the F-Type in India, priced at an insane Rs. 1.37 crore for the V6 S and Rs. 1.61 crore for the V8 S (no base V6 on offer). Jaguar has almost confused Indians with the F-Type’s pricing as the 2-seater sportscar costs more than the XK in the country.

To put it into perspective, check out the Indian pricing of the F-Type and its competitors in US Dollar (converted as per today’s exchange rate 1$ = Rs. 59.80/-). The prices are in ascending order and on-road Mumbai, inclusive of registration and insurance charges.

How about breaking down these prices for those of us in the bleachers? What does the actual car cost, vs. the taxes and fees and whatever? I am assuming that a HUGE portion of those prices is tax, I can't imagine JLR is making multiples of the profit they make on the car elsewhere. And relatively speaking, how is the exchange rate to the dollar? Assume rather bad at the moment, as the dollar is quite weak worldwide. I realize we get cars a lot cheaper than many places in the states, but our prices include NOTHING beyond the actual price of the car. In my state you can add another 7.5% tax, plus several hundred minimum in fees, another couple hundred for registration, and another bunch of cash for insurance that varies wildly by who you are and where you live.

The prices I mentioned are inclusive of taxes, insurance, registration, etc. It's the final price you pay. Every car of the same price bracket is charged a similar amount. That is why, I have given other car prices are reference.
