I, For One, Welcome Our One-Wheeled Electric Motorcycle Overlords

The Segway was supposed to be the future of urban transportation, but here’s a better idea:

The RYNO is an electric, gyro-balanced unicycle. As you can see in the video, it seems to work perfectly well. It’s limited to about twenty miles per hour, but in the “30 Zones” of the not-so-distant future, it’s perfectly competitive with traffic. The 20-mile range isn’t great, but when you think of it as “across Manhattan and back, plus a lunch trip” it becomes more sensible. Pricing is projected at $4500, and while a good bicycle can be had for a third of that amount, the RYNO promises a sweat-free urban commute — at least when it’s not July. Details and investor-seeking hype at RYNO.

I object to the tag: "The general feminization of urban men." If taking away two wheels makes you a bad-ass, shouldn't taking away another make you even more so? Or maybe that makes you either bad... or an ass.

What is the point of this? Even inside dense city like Chicago, you'd get run over on some of the main streets (Western avenue) you'd get run over at 20mph. Outside of the city it's simply too slow. Why buy this instead of 250cc sportbike? I don't get it...

@Jack Baruth My building doesn't even allow bicycles or push carts for equipment on the elevators. No way this thing is getting on. Besides, to be able to take it to your desk in your building, it would have to be USEFUL to get you to work, first, no? Can this thing legally use the bicycle lane in most cities?

Wow... That really pops my cork! This looks delightfully goofy, fun, counter-culture, oxymoronic, and practical. (^_^)... ----------

I think the only requirment to make this street legal is the operator has to register as an organ donor.
