Prototype Passing: Porsche 991 Turbo Takes Next-Gen Audi RS4 Avant On The Inside

It’s one thing to see a forthcoming performance-model prototype, say an Audi RS4 Avant or a Porsche 991 Turbo, tearing through the “Green Hell.” But it’s quite another to watch one unreleased prototype pass another camo-clad warrior, previewing autobahn battles that are still a good year away. It should come as little surprise that the new Porsche Turbo was able to get around Audi’s speedwagon by diving inside, but given the Audi’s slower line, the cornering-speed battle is closer than you might think. Besides, try taking the kids to hockey practice in an ‘elfer Turbo…

When that car comes out they will be picking bankers and software company directors out of trees all over Europe. That thing is insanely quick. BTW I'm only make the bankers/directors quip because I'm very, very jealous. Want one.

......I'm sure that their superiors lecture engineer/drivers incessantly on the folly of "racing" on test days......but the sight of such a quick station wagon was a bit too much for Herr Turbo.....incensed, he throws caution to the wind and banzais the impertinent Audi, luckily squeezing by the very politely driven SUV before the next corner. Just another day at the office for those lucky wage slaves at Porsche/Audi. Whatever that SUV was may be just the ticket for a hockey mom with no racing ambitions.

Saying "Herr" all the time is like saying "the Drier": it doesn't make you cool.

It's quick but the exhaust sounds terrible.
