The Chinese-designed Envision supposedly is the first look at future Buick design. GM said that the Envision “merges Buick’s global design language with Chinese aesthetics.” Or as they like to say in the Middle Kingdom, it’s a Buick with Chinese characteristics.
I nearly ignored it as another concept that will never see they day, especially because it was adorned by the same his & her models from last year’s Beijing Auto Show. Old car show rule: If it has doors that don’t open the regular way, gullwing our guillotine, it won’t see production. But pictures were taken. And here it is, Buick’s Envision.

Is that dude a mannequin? He doesn’t look very excited to be there.
He must be the “Rent a White Guy” the Atlantic Monthly wrote about last year!
Love the suit though. I must have a shiny silver suit like that. Must! The car? Meh.
You can extend that old car show rule to floating seats. If the seats don’t sit on traditional floor-mounted seat tracks it won’t see the light of day. OEMs have been showing concepts with center-channel hanging floating seats, pedestal-mount seats etc for decades and never has one been built.
All true about production or not.
That said, the body would be a nice way to have the Buick design language push forward. It’s novel and fitting.
I really wonder what the baby Enclave will look like.
Do Will & Grace buy many cars?
I keep expecting for those doors to star flapping like a bird and take off. It’s alive!
I shag that bird in a heartbeat!
