Europe in February 2011: Up A Tad

European sales of new cars rose a tiny 0.9 percent in February, the European manufacturer association ACEA reports. Two months into the year, new car registrations are down slightly by 0.3 percent.

While most countries posted growth, five recorded a downturn, including major markets 7UK (-7.7 percent), Italy (-20.5 percent) and Spain (-27.6 percent). France is up 13.2 percent, Germany 15.2 percent. Economic basket cases Portugal and Greece saw their markets contract by 12.7 percent and 49.1 percent.
