Want to have bragging rights to the highest motorized street legal Porsche in Porsche’s recorded history? Don’t want to have a tuned one (Uwe Gemballa is still missing, Auto Bild has already written him off.) No problem! If you have the cash, Porsche will set you up with a 620 hp 911. But no dawdling around: If you want to be one of the 500 people who can drive to work in that brute, you better get in line right now.
In September, Porsche will offer a limited edition 911 GT2 RS. In the rear will be a 456 kW/620 hp 3.6 liter blown engine. Porsche says it will power the most powerful street legal car in Porsche’s history. And it will be a steal at an MSRP of only €237.578 for the base model.
According to Automobilwoche [sub], the money will buy you an engine that produces 90 hp more than the GT2. It also buys you lots of carbon that helps bring the weight down to a mere 3020 lbs. The 911 GT2 RS will reach 100 km/h in 3.5 seconds, 200 km/h in 9.8 seconds and 300 km/h in 28.9 seconds. Top speed is 330 km/h (205 mph.) Supposedly.
It’s even greener than the GT2: mileage improved a whopping 5 percent. With a CO2 production of 284 g/km, it should be driven only by people who think climate change is bunk. Interested? Then act now. Porsche will make only 500. Operators are standing by to take your order. And drive carefully.

Hedge fundie meets Porsche. Porsche meets hedge. WreckedExotics wins.
An absolutely bonkers car, total envy for the dozen or so owners who buy them to do something more than drive to the cafe or to football practice.
Yum! And it’s still only a 6 cylinder. Wow!
Sweet. We may be sitting in gridlock, but my fumes are so much more high-performance than yours.
“Want to have bragging rights to the highest motorized street legal Porsche in Porsche’s recorded history?”
This has been said every year since the first Porsche. I’m sure next year’s will better, faster, more expensive, more power, etc.
Twotone
AWESOME!
Sweet. I think that pretty much matches or beats my 600cc sport bike in a straight line :-)
Anything with a 0-60 faster than 6-7 seconds (when I floor it) my wife hates…..so all future speed purchases will be motorcycles.
Awesomely insane but 620 HP in a car with rear biased weight distribution does make me wonder what kind of traction control system could keep this thing on the road?
It doesn’t have two tires, but one continuous strip of near-treadless rubber from rear fender to rear fender.
Now there are only 499 available. Sorry, couldn’t help myself ;-)
Porsches may have their dynamic shortcomings, but traction was never one of them. The rear weight bias keeps the drive wheels planted quite nicely, which is what makes 911s such swell racing cars.
Who wants to bet they’re all sold out before they hit the dealerships?
F’n hilarious. Give me your 928 and 25K – 150+ more than that at the wheels. No matter who’s dyno you reference. 911s are a (bad) joke.
At the end of it all, there is no replacement for displacement.
Hell, even Lindsey can get that out of a 951.
This one is awesome!
