Who Says Hybrids Can't Sound Good?

Here’s a new experience to notch up in the old “times they are changing, the” folder: cranking your PC speakers to take in the full aural pleasure of a hybrid at full chat. Sure, it’s a race-only Porsche, with 6-7 seconds of driver-activated electric thrust (which driver Nico Hülkenberg says he used “about 20 times per lap” of the Nürburgring), but it sounds so good you’ll understand why Porsche already has 900 potential buyers lined up for a production version of its 918 Spyder hybrid supercar concept. And while we’re ‘ringside, pondering the once-incomprehensible, could someone please explain what a 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee is doing running hot laps?

That sound takes me back to my days of playing with RC cars... and I don't mean that in a sarcastic way. The only thing needed to complete the fun is a giant whip antenna.

They just need to add a linear generator with permanent magnets in the track surface and the coils in the car. Then, they'll have actually made Need For Speed realistic again.....

The Jeep Grand Cherokee is just getting the tuning down so it can have the production SUV's ring record when it gets its SRT8 version. The next Ford Lightning will be there next week for the truck record. The crossover segment is currently held by the HHR SS. Sorry, just had to.
