Next up in our impromptu series of car ads featuring spurious comparisons: the Smart as Supercar. Not buying it? Hey, it’s still better than comparing your car to a pair of socks.

It's better than the socks ad. I still don't get it. Are you telling me to choose between a cheap, reliable pair of socks that will serve me for years or a Dodge minivan, V8 sedan, or choppy-looking minivan that will eat me alive in gas costs and maintenance?

RWD? What about the Crown Vic? I love my little MkI 2004 Brabus ForTwo, and aside from the nice music, I think this is just another of those dumb commercials which seemed to start with the Infinity pebbles and water commercials all those years ago (at least here you get to see the car)... And btw, the point of the commercial may not be what do these cars have in common, it may be that they have almost nothing incommon ... the Smart is more or less, the anthesis of the other cars that were shown.

I went to the Ford "consumer autos" website and the Crown Vic is nowhere to be seen. Are you sure is still available for sale?

    Lovely ad. Wonderfully subdued humor.

I see them up on 128, the loop around Boston, zippin' along at 75 mph. Also, see 'em as signboards in town. Not everybody is sensible in their choices. Smart-tees are whimsical. Better than dead serious, eh what?
