Wild Arse Rumour Of The Day: Ghosn, Ghosn, Gone?

Ratan Tata is unmarried and has no children. So he’s now on the hunt for a successor and because of the lack of Tata scions (Toyota joke here) he’s looking outside of the family. Very far outside the family. NDTV Profit reports that Ratan Tata and Carlos Ghosn had a closed-door meeting in Mumbai a few weeks ago and Ghosn is a likely candidate. After all, Ghosn presided over the launch of the Dacia Logan which was a success in India (not to mention Europe), and now Renault-Nissan are gunning for Tata’s Nano in a link-up with Bajaj. Sounds like Ratan Tata is trying to hire away the enemy general. But is Ghosn the man to tackle Jaguar-Land Rover? And how would Ghosn’s Nissan-Renault empire cope without him?

Sure hope Nissan/Renault has a succession plan in place. Ghosn has done a wonderful job for them. He'll be tough to replace. Far as I know he doesn't have a death wish. Can't imagine him getting involved with Jaguar-Land Rover

The turn-around specialist needs something to turn-around. The flat-broke and confused Tata could do with a guiding hand. Ghosn might be the man, as his work is "done" at Renault/Nissan.

This wouldn't surprise me. Ghosn was undercut by the Renault board when they turned down the deal he'd worked with Roger Penske to supply Saturn. Ghosn has an ego. After pretty much saving both Renault and Nissan, he probably thought he could do whatever he wanted but the Renault BOD thought otherwise.
