Ladies and Gentlemen, Your Toyobaru Coupe

The FT-86 concept, based on an RWD variant of the Subaru Impreza chassis, has been revealed at the Tokyo Auto Show. And behold, the Toyobaru coupe of internet legend appears to be in near-production trim. With a 2.0 boxer four, a six-speed manual and a forecast base price of under $30k, the FT-86 hopes to live up to the promise of its AE86 reference point. If nothing else, it signals the possible end of a long winter for Toyota’s enthusiast lineup, which effectively went into hibernation when the MR-2 Spyder was canned in 2007. But don’t get too excited. The FT-86 production model won’t go on sale in Japan until “late 2011,” so it’s anyone’s guess when it will become available in the States.

The front looks like a 370Z w/ a variation on the Genesis coupe's headlights (or Hyundai's Veloster concept).

@CarPerson: the screening audiogram, admittedly a crude test, uses only 8 or so distinct tones between 125Hz and 10KHz. FWIW, Toyota chose a shade of red inspired by a monkey's ass.

Jalopnic asks the question: Will Convertibles Make you Deaf? http://jalopnik.com/5376088/will-convertibles-make-you-deaf One could ask “Define deaf”? although in the long run it’s best to embrace the answer is “Heck yes!”

When will Mazda See the light and put a 2.3 Banger Turbo in the RX-8...well it won't be an RX-8 then will it...Derrr. The Rotary is What MAKES the RX-8 what it is, one of the best handling and balanced chassis ever, over all cars ever made...big statement yes, but in the top 6 of all time great chassis and the MX-5 is in that category too as it shares a shortened version of the RX-8's chassis which is also number 3 for rigidity over any other car made, Number 2 is a Ferrari F50, N 1 went to a 4 tonne Rolls Royce. Being an owner of the latest RX-8, I am over the moon with this wonderful car, PLENTY Fast enough, the Chassis, Brake, gearbox, everything, you can not fault them (paintwork could be much better, eco friendly water base rubbish). It is the BALANCE of any CAR, the TOTAL Package and the RX-8 has it all, you really don't know what you are missing, the car is you and you are the CAR.. Have you ever owned a car that feels part of you?? This one does it too you.
