What's Wrong With This Picture: The Actual Retail Price of the Showcase Is . . . Edition

I have the day off today, so I was watching The Price is Right.

This Impala LS appeared at the end of a NASCAR-themed showcase presentation. Preceding the Impala were a Nintendo Wii racing game, a Craftsman tool chest and set, and a trip to the Brickyard 400 in Indianapolis.

Not that I wouldn’t have minded winning all of that. But an SS would have made more sense, IHMO.

MichaelMichael,

For reasons I can’t fully explain, I often think of the SS when I watch “The Price Is Right.”

P.S. I’m Jewish so I can say that.

I must watch the History Channel too much. You mean there's actual history on HC in between ice road trucking, lumbering, testing old military gear, and 23 minutes of commercials every hour? No-friggin'-way!

Dave M: "You mean there’s actual history on HC in between ice road trucking, lumbering, testing old military gear, and 23 minutes of commercials every hour? No-friggin’-way!" And the "Learning" Channel - tales of woe about 800-pound people getting bariatric surgery...That'll LEARN ya.

God what a rental fleet queen... I have noticed.. the vehicles that any TV show (The Price Is Right) gets.. is any base / basic model, large / 5 pass domestic automaker's garbage. A lineup of vehicles so poor / generic / genetics that people really don't follow. And.. The SS Impala that got canned, really isn't much different from this queen, at all in its last model year. I think the tires were a bit bigger.. but that was it. I've seen silver / primer color versions of these things.. with their demographic driver.. and its hideous. There really isn't any LOVE for a SS Impala. SO basically.. The car, its color, its trim, the TV show that its on, really caters to its buyer. Which... is actually pretty sad. Then again.. is the whole discussion about Malibu v Impala.

That poor bastard is going to have to pay income taxes on the MSRP! Which is probably more than if he just went and bought one!!
