TTAC Photochop: New Land Rover Seven-Seater

After purchasing Land Rover, Tata aren't wasting any time trying to turn the British brand into a cash-cow. Apparently, introducing a new seven seater, based on the Freelander is their first move in this "Roverlution." Yes, they already have a seven-people carrier in the Discovery. But in these fuel-fastidious days the ol' trucks seem a little… out of place. The new car is said to be more road-oriented. [Sigh. It had to happen eventually.] It will use the Freelander 2's elongated platform. Styling will be a mix of what we see on LR's smallest and the LRX. I struggled to maintain the rugged lines fans love so much while making the vehicle fit into the next decade. How often will seven people travel in the same SUV is still arguable. But I guess, knowing that you can transport an entire girls volleyball team is enough of a reason for some.

Actually, it's a bad idea for the US market. Maybe it will sell in England? India? In the US, LR has become a luxury badge with little ties to it's formerly adventurous spirit. This vehicle continues this trend when it is BADLY needed for them to go back to it. Maybe if there weren't already a million options just like it, only more reliable and affordable.

Yeah is not what it used to be namely " Oel Price" Unless Tata make a double tank where one can eat at posh dinner places and go to their back a siphon up used grease for their Used veg oil. Tata is looking more like Icarus than anything else. Worse is the realestate melt down lots of folks are not going for these whatever u fancy to call them or simpler gas guzzlers. Due to no more cash or not Kosher to be seen in a flashy new LR among tough times. Just show how insensitive you're when everybody else are tightening their belts eating Oscar Meyer's deluxe hot dogs!

IIRC there is a tax incentive in the UK for having the ability to seat 7+ people. So the addition of seats could be a clever gaming of regulations like GM adding weight to the H2 so if goes about CAFE regulations and qualifies for the "truck" tax credit.
