The 2024 Tacoma Breaks Cover in New Leaked Image
The 2024 Toyota Tacoma is coming soon, but the internet has been abuzz with rumors and leaked images. The latest comes from a Reddit user who claims the image above came from navigating Toyota’s website.
Before going too far, it’s important to note that the image is not confirmed by Toyota, but it’s hard to ignore the fact that it looks a lot like what we’ve seen in the automaker’s official teaser shots. The truck sports a beefier look than its predecessors, with a sculpted hood and wide fender flares.
We already know Toyota’s planning a removable JBL speaker option, and most expect the truck to get a significantly updated infotainment system. The new Tacoma is also going hybrid and will get a new overlanding trim called the Trailhunter.
The top-selling Tacoma will break cover on May 19, which adds to what is shaping up to be an exciting month for truck lovers. Ford plans to unveil the new Ranger and Ranger Raptor this week, so it will be interesting to see how the two compete going forward. Toyota’s TRD trims are surprisingly capable off-road, but they won’t bring the level of intensity or power of Ford’s gnarly Raptor trucks. Either way, we don’t have long to wait to see how things shake out.

Someone at work just got a new Tundra. I still cannot believe how horrifyingly ugly, from front to back, that truck is. And it started out as a solid, honest looking truck. And each time I see that truck in the parking lot, I question why Toyota had to go so over the top with the excessive and overdone styling elements when (especially) Ram doesn't have to and they are selling just fine. If anyone is to be copied, copy Ram as they haven't gone so over the top that it will age like cottage cheese in the Phoenix afternoon sun in three years.
All that said, I'll hold out hope for this Tacoma. It's smaller so fingers crossed that it'll be toned down. The Maverick, Ridgeline, and Ranger are all decent looking trucks without excess, so maybe Toyota takes the hint.
And every single time I drive past that Toyota when I head home, I pray that the rather short person who drives it can see over the blunt object front and know that there is a tiny Mazda driving past and they need to wait to pull out! I almost met my maker this morning when a new Chevy HD truck didn't see me merging and eased into the lane I was merging into. Due to a major spinal surgery last month and the possibility of another one in a few months, the doctor is hinting loudly that the days of crawling into low-slung sportscars might be coming to an end. (Sigh...) But I won't get a jacked up truck.
Oh great, more trucks with headlights mounted at the top of the 5' tall hoodline.
When our ancestors look back at these old fuel burning pickups…it’s the Tacoma they will see…everything else is just noise…It’s always been the coolest truck…and it looks like that isn’t going to change…
Tacoma drivers are a strange lot.
