Funny, that’s the price you’d have to pay ME to drive a Crossfire.
Who were the 3 suckers? What does it matter if it was the massaged AMG version? All “new” 2005 Crossfires should be $18k, tops. SRT-6 or not.

Actually, I wouldn’t as Chrysler has given most people no reasons to darken the doors of their dealerships.

From the MSRP this is not an SRT, as wierd/rare as a new 2008 Crossfire convertible is they are listed at under $29K. This dealer has a good sense of humor since a very low mileage used Crossfire convertible can be had in the low teens.
In 3 more months they’ll offer them as Buy One, Get One Free… before rebates.
Or simply 1/2 price.
Maybe they can donate the wretched things to the military for target practice, since the “Crossfire” deserves to be caught in some of its own namesake.

Remember: the dealer doesn’t have to pay off the principle (invoice) on these Crossfires until he/she sells the vehicles.
All he/she’s paying now: interest on the loan.
So let’s say the dealer says, NSFW this NSFW. I want these Crossfires gone, NOW.
Easy enough. Cut the price to, say, $9,995k.
The dealer would then have to pay off the loan– and go out of business.
Goes to show that there’s a sucker born every minute. A divorced, balding 52-year old sucker.
A quick look at the last 50 ebay auctions shows:
43 did not make reserve therefore did not sell. Most bids were in the $10,000 range, not $40,000
5 sold, the highest being a virtually new SRT for $16,600 and a specially painted fully loaded 2005 with 40k miles for $8900
That should be on dong (Vietnam money).

Maybe the “1″ key on their keyboard is broken and they cannot afford to buy a replacement.
That’s as good an explanation as I’ve seen for the reason Big 2.8 prices don’t seem to be reflecting the so-called ‘dire’ situation they’re in to unload large inventories of vehicles. They can’t afford to actually sell any cars since the loan principle on them far exceeds what they’re really worth.
The crossfire is a sad commentary of the halo car run amuck. I leased one of these when they came out. It was competent and a good car. If only the rest of chrysler’s line could have said we are also up-scale and worth looking at. By the time I had to turn it in, they were already in the tank. Thankfully, I could give it back. No car company survives with a continual deluge of near worthless used cars populating the used car lots.I have a 300C which has given no trouble and performs well, now with the fuel situation better I would be ready to buy another. However, two things prevent this: First like the crossfire it too has a terrible resale and will probably soon be an orphan. Secondly, going on four years, shouldn’t it be redesigned or upgraded so that I have a reason to buy a new one? In both cases, the answer will send me out of Detroit and into the arms of the foreigners.
A good friend has one of these. He bought it new in ‘07 for a stunning discount. It is a cool little car for what it is. He enjoys driving it and the performance is good.
Personally I don’t think Mercedes mechanical reliability and Chrysler interior quality is a great combo but at about half price I can see why he picked it up.
