Toyota does the SAME for Camry, Corolla and many others…

You are not wrong AFAIK, the “Mk6″ is essentially a face-lifted Mk5 so the “Plus” is basically the old “Plus” plus, er, some new stuff like lights and stuff.

All of the cars on this platform are having “facelifts” – there is a new Skoda Octavia and Seat Leon coming soon as well.

Not the typical formula, but I would buy one.. .with a choice of four TDI engines (sigh). OK, the US may be “The greatest country in the world (TM)” but it sure ain’t the greatest car culture country.

We should get this INSTEAD of the new Golf. Then leave the GTI as its own hatch model for those who ‘get it’ in 4-door, then bring the Scirrocco.

Golf Plus ($19k) -> GTI 4-door (4wd option) ($24k) -> Scirrocco 2-door ($29k) -> Eos ($34k)

I wish they sold the Golf Plus here. It’s a nice configuration of a car – the added size is used for cargo and headroom rather than look-at-me stature. Sold as the “Cross Golf”, it can be clad with enough fake aluminum and body cladding to pass as a softroader (think upscale Suzuki SX4).

the mk6 golf is riding on essentially the same platform as the mk5 golf. A few tweaks here and there but its pretty much identical.

I believe the doors, A-pillar and C pillar are actually the same. i could be wrong though.
