Ladies and Gentlemen, children of all ages: we give you the first Chevy Volt jingle, courtesy of Sarah Spiegel (shown here interviewing former CEO Rick Wagoner) and gm-volt.com! Listen to the ditty at the link and for lyrics hit the jump.

Once I had a guzzler,
I could not afford,
It cost me more every day.

Once I had a guzzler,
Now it’s gone,
Chevy Volt’s here to stay.

Don’t you remember?
It was “filler up”?
So much we couldn’t pay?

Don’t you remember
Where all your money went?
E flex came and saved the day.

Chevy Volt! Chevy Volt, leaves me money for play.
Chevy Volt! Chevy Volt, Chevy Volt’s here to stay.

(lyrics, Sarah Spiegel/GM Marketing)

Can't compete with MidLifeCelcia.. but what the heck -everybody sing! See the USA, your range is 40 miles a day!

Oh good heavens, that's certainly no jingle. It's a fine bit of work, obviously lots of work went into it, but you can bet the kiddies won't be humming that on their way to the dealership. The catch is weak and it's way way too overproduced to be considered a jingle. Also, I think the message conveyed by heavy guitars and backup singers, etc., made it sound like it was a Camaro ad, not the everyman Car of Tomorrow. Jingles are more crystallized and catchy. That was just a mini-song. Big meh.

Oh oh, a fan! That will only encourage me...not a good thing! The next ditty, "We are the Unions" practically writes itself... I've paid my dues - Time after time - I've done my work shift But created no cars - And bad mistakes I've made a few I've slacked off and taken all my breaks - But I've come through We are the unions, my friends And we'll keep on fighting, till the end We are the unions We are the unions No time for working 'Cause we are the unions - of the world - ....

Why didn't GM edit the Dodge Charger Daytona/Plymouth Superbird and the WRX out of the clip? Maybe they needed some other really good metal in there.
