To Infiniti-- and beyond!Well, here we are, sitting on the latest WP platform. So far, so good. Well, except for the problem with the podcast and the numerous New Content Notifications sent out for same. And yes, we know that the podcast's iTunes listing falls off the proverbial table after two days. Rest assured, as I do, that our highly capable technical staff are on the case. There's a lot of custom code within this sucker, so they've done well to get us this far. While they sort that out, if you experience any other glitches, please note them below. Hopefully, the new WP platform will solve the problems with the comment edit functions and, get this, offer some advantages. Like… a gallery! Yes, an honest-to-God photo gallery function with thumbnails and all. The new platform is also a first step towards our totally rad web 2.0 site. But, for the time being, thanks again for your patience, understanding and participation.

I noticed it, because I had to log in again. Flipping the switch during prime time; that’s gutsy.

It appears that you now have 20 minutes to edit your comments, rather than the original 60 minutes. That’s fine; if I can’t find a typo in 20 minutes, then shame on me!

Other than that, so far so good…

Well, now…that’s weird. My above comment says I have 59 minutes and (counting down)…15 seconds.

The RSS feed isn’t working (Live Bookmark on Firefox 2), but everything else seems to be going fine.

Will TTAC be sharing its platform with the Acadia/Outlook/Enclave?

No, but we’re excellent lambada dancers.

Working much better on my home computer than the old format. Never had any problems at work with using the site. ;-)

So far, so good. Correction of comments is a smooth affair now. I must publicly comment on the efficiency of this site. If GM ran as tight a ship as you guys they would dominate the market. Keep up the good work.

I hope your Web 2.0 doesn’t look anything like Winding Road’s Web 2.0. Dear God did they mess up that site. Please keep it simple.

Amen to that. The Winding Road “experience” is pretty winding…

    Amazingly seamless switch, Robert!

If anyone’s having issues with the RSS feeder, can you please tell us…

    OS
    Browser and version
    RSS application and version
URL they are using for the feed
Exact error it gives, if any

    Thanks!

I’m using Google Reader for RSS and just haven’t had any updates since the change over. I don’t see any error messages.

    The URL I’m using is:
    http://www.thetruthaboutcars.com/wp-rss2.php

RF: I’m having problems with my RSS feed.

I am using XP Pro, IE7, and Google Reader on my iGoogle webpage.

    The RSS URL is: http://www.thetruthaboutcars.com/wp-rss2.php

    It gives the following message:
    Information is temporarily unavailable.

My RSS reader is not detecting any new posts since yesterday (Monday).

I use Google Reader. It is watching this feed:
    http://www.thetruthaboutcars.com/wp-rss2.php

It looks like you changed the feed URLs. So I will update Google Reader to the new feed address at
    http://www.thetruthaboutcars.com/feed/

  • Robert Farago

Thanks for that. The programmers are on the case. And me on theirs. Obviously.

I’ll try the new feed URL…. looks like it works!

  • Julianne

I deleted my RSS feed and then re-subscribed, and now it works fine. Thanks!

If I click on the pictures on the Auto News Blog items, to see them bigger, I get two different responses.

    1. GOOD.
A white field opens on a black background, the picture appears with a caption and a CLOSE X button. I click on the X and I return to the news article.

    2. BAD.
A white field opens on a black background, a rotating icon appears and just keeps rotating. No picture, no caption. To get back to the news item I have to press ESC and click on the RELOAD icon.

Can this be… If I write a comment offline and paste it into the comment box and submit it, it doesn’t show up, but if I type it directly into the comment box, it does?

EDIT. I copied and pasted the above comment from my previous post. This worked fine. But I have attempted to copy and paste a relevant comment from a WordPad document, no dice. Will keep trying. (Maybe copy first to plain text file, thence to TTAC?)

  • Martin B

OK, it is working now. Here’s an additional comment:

    3. Also, the caption doesn’t always show up when the cursor hovers over the picture.
