#7 Honda 1995 (3.7 million vehicles): In 1995, American Honda Motor Co. dealt with a serious concern in some of its models. Cracked and disintegrating safety-belt release buttons were causing belts to fail or-just as potentially dangerous-trapping passengers in their cars after an accident. The recall included Civic, Prelude, Accord, Acura, Legend, Integra, and NSX models.

I have a friend who had an early Focus, 00 or 01, there probably weren’t that many Foci out yet, but after the 5th recall, the number of recalls total had to be in the millions.
Impressive not to see a Chrysler on there, although I recall the rear hatch latch being faulty on minivans made during the 80’s. That was a pretty big recall.
    via safetyforum.com:

“Affecting 4.1 million vans, the latches fail to hold the rear liftgate even in moderate crashes.

NHTSA allowed the automaker to conduct a “service campaign” to replace the latches.”

Considering it was just one model (84-95) Caravan, Voyager and T&C, has to be in top 10 for a single model/bodystyle recall. Scary stuff:
“Eighteen months after Chrysler announced its “service campaign,” 2.5 million minivans with defective latches remained on the road.”

I still see a crapload of the older models on the road.
