We called it on April Fools’ Day. Sort of, anyway. The new high-power XTS uses a twin-turbo 3.6L V-6 to twist out 410 torque-steering horsepower on its way to a C/D – tested 0-60 in 5.2 seconds and a quarter-mile in 13.5@105. (Naturally-aspirated Porsche owners should feel free to turn right at stoplights unless they have 3.8 liters or direct injection.)

Big, fast car. Well, kind of big. And kind of fast. But what are we supposed to call the thing?

Confirmed: XTS-V To Arrive In June As Early 2014 Model

While snapping shots of the new Chevrolet SS at the end of the show on Thursday, TTAC’s NYIAS crew was approached by General Motors vice president Mark Reuss. “You guys are always trying to make GM look bad,” he growled, his two personal assistants standing behind him and positively radiating menace, “but I’m going to show you that you can’t stop the largest car company in the world from making great product for great customers. Come with me.”

We didn’t have much choice, but after being given an industry exclusive on the biggest product reveal to not make news at the show, we’re glad we followed him down that dark corridor.

  • John I used to have a 2016 Chevy Spark EV (leased, 85 miles range when new) as our family's 3rd car. Loved it. When the lease ended the only cheap EV was the bolt but I couldn't stomach the tuperware interior so I bought a used Cayman instead and have been waiting now for another a cheap EV for almost 5 years. My bigger problem would be that I dislike giving Elon Musk even more $$, but the tesla supercharger network makes long trips (within CA at least) an option.
