Pistonheads [birthplace of TTAC] reports that Škoda Australia is showcasing a one-off conversion worthy of Jeremy Clarkson’s “pin your labradors to the back window” accolade: the Octavia RS-P. No awning over the toy shop here, mate. Škoda’s boffins remapped the standard vRS’s 197-bhp motor to churn out 254 bhp and 258 lb·ft of torque. They added a three-inch stainless steel exhaust, a bigger air filter, 355mm front and 310mm rear brake discs and popped some Yokohama Advans onto black 18-inch alloys. Oh, did I mention the cross brace in the boot, front and rear strut braces and fully adjustable dampers? I’m thinking front-wheel drive makes this “little nose heavy” Škoda about as useful as tits on a tomcat. So, any good Škoda jokes, then?

It’s RS not vRS.
Skodas have been leading reliability surveys in Europe lately, like Top Gear’s surveys. It’s interesting that they usually beat VW brand cars by a substantial margin.
I got laid in the backseat of a Skoda once. It looked alot like the picture above black wheels, wagon, rusty, and the only heater in the car that was operational belonged to the European soccer mom that was in the backseat with me.
Moral of the story is, if you are going to bang a soccer mom during the day in the cold. Don’t pick a fat one, bc their cars are not very roomy over there.

Octavia is a great car.
The VAG 2.0T is as flexible as you want. Plenty of guys in my area have chipped their GTIs up to 300 hp.
I prefer the look and brand image of the Skoda over SEAT, but SEAT’s hot hatch based on this platform, the Leon Cupra, makes 240 hp out of the box.
The Leon Cupra R makes 265hp for the current model year.
With front wheel drive.

In fact, now that I look there was even a special-er edition of the Leon Cupra with something like 282 bhp.
Point is, VW sells the 2.0T engine in many iterations with a lot of power.
And I thought the Crosstour was ugly ;-).
If this thing had to haul ass, it’d need two trips.

I’ve always wondered what vRS meant… “very Racing Sport”?

I like it. It’s mad. It’s stupid. It’s wonderful. Space wasting cross-bracing in the back of a wagon is the definition of hardcore.
My everyday car is a Skoda Octavia wagon and I have to say, maybe it’s no sportscar as the aussies try to make it look, but its a really nice allrounder. As for the v in vRS, the rumor is that Ford claimed RS as theirs and asked Skoda to either dump the logo or change it, and “v” saved the day.
