You said new so the Intermeccanica Murena and McLaren F1 are out. It would have to be the GTX1 (Gennadi will still make one for you until August of this year) the 8C (sex on wheels and sooo beautiful) the Vantage V12 RS (pretty but packs a punch) or an R8 TDI (not pretty or sexy but you can’t argue with 738 ft-lb of twist and 23 mpg!)

Okay, if I have to pick one actually still in production, Porsche GT3 RS. As super cars go, (based on my limited 911 experience) it’s reliable, civilized, and practical. I love the Ariel Atom, but it’s not outrageously expensive (in the supercar world), and I could conceivably own one one day (if my wife divorces me and I inherit a lot of money afterwards). These two “realities” rule against it being a supercar in my mind.

P.S. I still love any car like a McClaren that has a cd player custom built to save weight, uses the exhaust system as part of the crumple zone material to save weight, and uses gold leaf as a heat reflector to save weight (and keep the thing from catching on fire).

For supercar, I read wildly impractical car. They are pretty much synonymous in my mind. And in that spirit, make mine an Ariel Atom. I don’t think there is anything on that car that isn’t related to the act of driving. Six way power seats, AC, radio, heater – nope (what are you, some sort of wussy?) Windshield, doors, windows, roof, who needs’em? Also, its actually affordable (not saying its a bargain) and in a pinch could be serviced by Cletus down at the local GM service center.

That thing is a machine. Even without ever utilizing it near it’s limits, one would have to admire the shear capability. It’s a rolling jet plane.

I must also admit that the Ford GT has a street presence that puts any of the “new” Lamboghinis and Aston Martins to shame. The Ford GT looks like the body was shrinked wrapped around the wheels, unlike the Lambos, ZERO bloat. It also looks like it is only 3 feet off of the ground.

If you have ever seen a older Lambo Miura in person you will understand what I am talking about.
