Robert,

Why do you seem doubtful?

Let's let the paint dry first, then give them a chance.

From a on the pavement grocery getter perspective the Patriot is a good replacement for the XJ Cherokee. Taken off-road it would embarrass itself. But if you are not going for off-road or 4WD ability why go with a Chrysler product? The Xb, Cube, Soul, Fit or Element all serve the same niche.

A big part of the appeal of the XJ is that it provided 80% of the capability of a YJ or TJ Wrangler while being a practical and comfortable car that you could live with as a daily driver.
In comparison the YJ is the inner circle of NVH Hell with the usable interior room of a Geo Metro. The TJ was only a slight improvement.

The mileage claims are plausible, given a decent size battery bank and a small 4 cyl engine.

I know this is somewhat off topic, but I've always felt that the Patriot was as close to a spiritual successor to the Cherokee that the Liberty replaced as anything in Jeep's lineup. A few coworkers have bought them and they seem like decent enough vehicles. If the interiors really have been improved then so much the better. It, along with the Wrangler are probably all that's worth salvaging with the Jeep brand.

On topic, as cpmanx mentions, there's a distinct lack of detail to go with the mileage figures mentioned.

Hmmm...and does it all with (apparently) a 60hp engine of unknown origin, displacement, or even cylinder count. At unknown cost, and unknown proximity to reality.
