I forgot to upload the podcast. Sorry Justin. In my own defense, I never thought TTAC's blog would take off like this. When we started, it was just Frank and me and sometimes Glenn. We struggled to make ten posts a day. Now we're nearasdammit outblogging the other guys, via regular snarks from Jonny, eco-actualities from Donal, new car buzz from Justin and occasional shots from Samir, William C and Sajeev. Oh, and Edward Niedermeyer, who's a friggin' blogging machine (and the only writer I know who has more snidely whiplash than me). And like the good brand that we are, TTAC has grown organically in this, dare I say it, comms post. For the first time in this history of the world (ever) we crested 600k unique visitors (that's you) per month, ascending to 1.8m page views. Equally heartening, we're e-fly paper; visitors hang around the site for an average for 4:16. The ad guys are talking about a demographic survey, and that's great– given that we haven't heard hide nor hair of them in the last six months. Anyway and meanwhile, I promise you more of the same. Fair enough?

I always knew Ted would fit in somewhere…can you imagine what it was like having a “discussion” with him as a teenager?

The TTAC news blog and the podcasts are great.
Back before the blog started, I checked here once a week and commented about once a month. Now I usually show up everyday and almost always have something to comment about.

RF,
I think TTAC could offer advertisers something fairly unique because your readership would tolerate a greater presence of ads, or at least one more clearly integrated with content.
This site is hypnotic, and ads seem to fade into the background. They cannot compete with the content. On the other hand, I would not object to seeing a full page ad for every link clicked. Or for reading additional pages of commentary. Or in order to add my own comments.
I suspect a majority of your readers would feel the same way. What’s more few competitors could actually employ the same model, because their content is too weak or generic.

Great news, RF. I believe TTAC will continue to grow because:
1. The site continues to have a distinctive tone.
2. You haven’t tolerated personal attacks. This has kept discussion focused on the cars.

HAH 8 Listeners? I think you MAY be selling yourself short there.
I do love TTAC, when I started reading it, I could hit it up once a day easy, this gave me time to read the article and brows through all the comments. Keeping up now is getting harder and harder, you people are keeping me away from work!.

What does “hang around the site for an average for 4:16″ mean? Does that mean the average visitor is here for 4 minutes and 16 seconds? Or is that some sort of ratio?

Which, surprisingly enough, is high for a website. Surfers can have incredibly short attention spans, often spending just seconds on a site.
I think the average at TrueDelta is about 2:30.
