Noted. Since I already submitted next week's Piston Slap, you'll have another week of poor shifting before the B&B get a handle on your situation.

Oh, and please email me with these requests. I always check my email because it never gets pushed lower down the TTAC blog's totem pole. (such is life on the Internet!)

Sajeev,

Since you're telling us it's ok to ask for an expedited answer, answer my question first! (the one about grinding 1-2 shift in a 2006 Vette)

Lorenzo : I don’t see any questions that Sajeev can sink his teeth into. I have one, but he might be too disgusted to answer it.

Not very likely.

Thank you all for the vote of confidence: Piston Slap received twenty emails today. Normally these are addressed in the order received, but don't be shy to ask for an expedited answer.

Best,
Sajeev

Is $19.99 too much to pay to change the air in my tires? My mechanic recommends this when I get my oil and filter changed every five hundred miles miles. He does give me a break on the Dasani water in the radiator...

I have never been able to get an answer to this:
If we add air to our tires when it is cold to maintain optimal pressure, and drive south to Florida in 24 hours or so, why don't the tires become overpressurized?
Also, in early spring when the temperature fluxuates forty to fifty degrees overnight at times....same question. It is almost like the drop in pressure as ambient temp falls (there is a fixed ratio) does not perform the same way when the temp. rises.

whadsupwizat?

I don't see any questions that Sajeev can sink his teeth into. I have one, but he might be too disgusted to answer it.

I'm an appliance driver. I've owned a string of clunkers and have run them as long as possible with minimal maintenance, until it was time to call the junkyard.

Then I grew tired of that and bought a 1995 Nissan Altima in 1996, with 17,000 miles on it. I'm still driving it, but it has only 48,000 miles on it. I used a company car for years, and when I worked at headquarters, it was only 5 miles away, though three miles were on a freeway.

I hate to say it, but I followed the same pattern as with the clunkers, minimal maintenance. Now I'm retired and drive it the same amount - 2500 miles a year, nearly every trip involves some freeway mileage. It's had only one repair, a replacement distributor shaft. I've changed the oil once a year, give it a tune up once every three years, and never touched the cooling system, auto transmission or brakes. All the belts and hoses, basically everything under the hood, is original. The car runs fine, doesn't burn oil or overheat, and has fairly new tires.

I'm looking at doing a front brake job, cooling system flush, and repair of the only thing that doesn't work, the windshield washer pump. If I do that now, can I run this car with benign neglect another 4-5 years?

A State of Avarice

and given that Mr Lang was flogging off Kias, really bad company.

I'd like to suggest again that there be some follow up. I'm not nearly as knowledgeable as most here. I'm learning a lot about what might be wrong but not much about what is actually wrong.
