WRCB has the first image of what its contracted photographer calls the “test mule” for the new mid-size sedan (NMS) that Volkwagen will produce at its new plant in Chattanooga. Volkswagen tells the local news outlet that “unfortunately, this is not the NMS. This vehicle is built on the Jetta chassis which may also include some components of a new midsize sedan (NMS) being tested.” Still, this is as close to the long-rumored NMS as we’ll be seeing for a while.

Nice to see how a city gets enthusiastic about a new factory. The cut ins are
- the delivery “towers” at the Auto Stadt in Wolfsburg
- Production in Wolfsburg

411 was elongated “sedanish” version of Beetle, if anyone remember. I love larger cup holder and more butt room to contain our supersized McDs

Whatever it is, it’s a nice looking front end. But that’s probably because there’s no chrome to be found. And if it’s powered by the 2.5 Litre Inline-5, then it’s most likely destined for the NA market. VW can’t pawn that POS engine off on any other countries besides the US and Canada.

Sure looks to me just like the mid-life facelift of the current US Jetta - i.e. VW has put the new Gen VI golf front end on the current Jetta.
Look at the fender to headlight line and the door profiles - still the same jetta not selling from dealers right now.

@the duke
Exactly. Looks like an update to not make the Jetta look old next to the Golf VI

I agree that this is a Jetta facelift…doesn’t look bad, a bit more square than the current Jetta and a bit more Germanic.

The new front end does look much nicer than the ugly puss on the current model.

The nose looks a little like a Dodge Neon.

VW’s only selling point is that it DOES NOT drive like American vehicles.
Developing a vehicle for the American market will be as successful as the new Malibu.
People don’t want slopmobiles!

Wow! we get a dynamic engine!? Well, I suppose that’s better than a static engine like say… a cinder block.
