Always liked the Boxster. But since Porsche can't put their 'real' flat six in the car, I guess this is the only alternative. Too bad. IMAGINE the press if this car had the 385HP 3.8!!! Or an $85,000 car with the 435HP GT3 engine. The chassis is plenty capable, and I suspect the weight difference is miniscule. Now that would be a story!

Less than 1/2sec of engine audio, again!! That stinks.

@ Keef

Yes, I think you're right, not a single frame without "Added Fast Forward". Now I understand what RF meant.

I have to be honest… I thought it looked pretty cool until I saw the static images of it with the top ON… YIKES, it is HIDEOUS! Even worse than a Solstice and Sky!

A Spyder isn't designed with the top ON in mind. It's supposed to be driven open. The only reason why there is a top at all is in case the weather suddenly turns nasty...

Did anybody else actually watch the video? I don't think there was a single scene displayed in real time. Everything was either sped up to make it look like the little Boxter is a speed demon, or slowed down so you could admire the bodywork.

Granted, the car looks good, although expensive. But still, can't we have some video footage that isn't time-warped? And maybe hear the engine note instead of some crappy pseudo-rock music?

I have a 1997 Toyota MR2 GT Turbo, that still gives me goosebumps...to me.

And...it's dead reliable.

Terrific 5-speed, great little motor, and for those who like lots of buttons and supreme comfort?

You need not apply.

But, it is just as sharp as a scalpel on the Benz, and down right thrilling running up through the gears on the straights.

Ahhhh...Toyota made sports cars back then...

All I see is a classic spare minimalist design ruined by overwrought boy-racer stuck-on plastic bits and graphics. This is the "Screaming Chicken" Trans-Am to the 1970 Camaro.
Base price is 53100 euros, 63404 with the value added rogering. Who knows what Porsche figures the traffic will bear in dollars.

2811 lbs - don't know if that's with or without the PDK option

not a fan of the bulges behind the driver and passenger - makes it look thick and heavy

“Designation Delete” (i.e. rear badge removal) is a no-cost factory option on all Porsches...

Wait, wait, a no-cost option on a Porsche? Is there frost in Hell?

Nice looking Porschey.

Because it is a minimalist configuration, it will cost less. Right?

Or does that visual continuity feature make it cost more?

@twotone: "Designation Delete" (i.e. rear badge removal) is a no-cost factory option on all Porsches, so you can certainly get one without "Boxster Spyder" on the back. And if you buy one off the lot, the rear badges are easy to remove, de-badging is common among Boxster owners. :)
