Almost a year later and no one has figured out how to wake up a Bluetooth gizmo? Once the blue light is on, tap the button once. There will be a beep and you're on the air.

They do sort of look like something from Star Trek. They give the wearer an eerie look in the dark, like when they are walking out of a store or driving at night.

My family and friends amuse ourselves by playing "Is that person crazy and talking to themselves or talking on cell phone?", just like they do on "Jimmy Kimmel."

I suspect that many of the people we look at are both crazy and talking to themselves AND talking on a cell phone all at the same time.

I have one of these (and an HS810 as well), and they're okay for some phones, but not with some some newer Bluetooth phones (like my HTC TyTn II) that use different compression technologies that make the volume too low. If your phone supports A2DP, you're probably better off with a newer headset.

This isn't a hard and fast rule - for some reason, some older headsets (and the Bluetooth link in my RX330) work quite fine.

I could've written that first paragraph myself--that's exactly how I feel. I live in a podunk mountain town so what's even more funny are the Bubbas strutting around with their little headsets. Chicken feed prices could drop at any time, so they can't afford to miss that call!

The pretentious pricks walking around like they're self important with their bluetooth headset on 24 hours/day are very similar to when cell phones first came out, and every toolbag had to clip one (or several) onto his belt to let everyone else know that he was SO important he had a cell phone, and he had to be able to access it IMMEDIATELY (I use gender male because I am male, there are self-important fashion victims across gender).

I never made the Uhura connection - I always thought they looked like The Borg with the blue blipping lights, and the fact that they were plugged into the collective.

What kills me about these is when someone is talking on one and I respond to them, like, what? And then I see they're on their headset.

My only issue with the only Bluetooth headset that I have tried is that it was not loud enough to hear over my vehicle. Granted, it's not exactly quiet but the headset should at least be able to offer somewhere near the volume capacity of a regular phone. Indeed it did not. I'll have to look up the model number, but mine is also a Motorola. So for folks that don't have a whisper-quiet ride and are wondering about a Bluetooth headset, my advice is to make sure that you can try and return it just in case.

I find hands free devices like this are an absolute must if you need to answer a call in a car with a manual transmission. I usually don’t need to make or receive a call in the car but its there just in case. The only issue I’ve had with my BT headset (Logitech something or other) is that it or the phone go into a sleep mode and it will need like 5 rings before it wakes up and I hear the beep.

A few months ago my headset broke (the rubber thing that went around the ear), getting tired of electrical tape holding it together so maybe I’ll pick this up.
