Funny, I don\'t see any Buicks, Pontiacs or GMCsThose of you headed to the California State Fair this month can take the kiddies along for brainwashing "a new eco-friendly show" at the "Buick-Pontiac-GMC Rainforest Pavilion." What the division that produces some of GM's biggest and thirstiest vehicles has to do with the rainforest escapes me at the moment, but the "'green' fun" features a "Dr. Greenius Biofuel" as host and "will engage fair-goers with interactive fun while also educating about alternative fuels and how to be more eco-friendly in day-to-day life." The kiddos can participate in "hands-on demonstrations like learning to juggle, piecing together puzzles, and playing with an easy squeezy biofuel tool demonstrating the difference between petroleum and ethanol in a fun-filled way." And then once you're through in the Rain Forest, you can shuffle over to the "Chevy Alt Fuel Magical Biodome" to see "Harry Hybrid-dini" with "an act that incorporates alternative fuel words of wisdom." And of course, "Chevrolet, Buick, Pontiac and GMC will present a variety of fuel-friendly vehicles to explore throughout the Fair." If you've managed to hold down your lunch so far, or really do believe that the children are our future, you can read the entire press release here.

Is that the same rainforest that gets burnt down so that more ethanol-providing crops can be planted?

learning to juggle, piecing together puzzles

Well yes. Maybe the kiddies could see a demo by the GM execs. I suggest putting Rick on stage so the little tots could see him juggling large pieces of bullshit as he does every time he shows his face. Or is it slinging that he does? I suggest he not demo his skills at piecing together puzzles since he hasn’t been on top of his game since he’s; oh say been employed at GM.

That was probably the only way GM would be admitted entry to the Kalifornia state fair.

    Leave GM alone!

Why should we leave it alone? GM has deteriorated into nothing more than a beaurcarcy run by idiots.

I for one would like to go to the puzzle putting together activity. It would be hilarious to sit there for three hours and watch Rick Wagoner try to shove the square peg through the round hole.

Exactly, as it does fit in with the rest of left coast.

“Chevrolet, Buick, Pontiac and GMC will present a variety of fuel-friendly vehicles…”

I thought pretty much *all* of GM’s vehicles were great friends with fuel?

    LOL

    Runfromcheney,

    I was being ironic

    Like Congress?

Which idiot are YOU voting for?!?!

Brainwashing the future. A disgusting, age-old marketing tactic. McDonald’s was particularly successful at this. Evil, just evil.

I don’t think Pontiac has ANY E85 vehicles in the ‘09 model mix, do they????

  • M1EK

I don’t think Pontiac has ANY E85 vehicles in the ‘09 model mix, do they????

Not that it matters, anyways, since E85 is awful for the environment, and actually uses more energy to produce than it provides in fuel. But you go, GM!

Every time I fill up at a gas station that uses gas which has 10% non-petroleum content, I notice that I get worse gas mileage.

  • davey49

This type of marketing brainwashing was always one of my favorite things when going to fairs.
Wouldn’t any car company saying they were “green” be a bit cheesy?
The bicycle companies and dealers would have a more legitimate “green” credit but bicycle people are huge snobs.
    amac- McDonalds rules! :)

I wrote that post before you edited in the YouTube link. I thought that you were being serious.

@AKM: Is that the same rainforest that gets burnt down so that more ethanol-providing crops can be planted?

Don’t be so primitive. We’re much more advanced than that. Now we cut down the rainforest to make cellulosic ethanol.

  • seabrjim

mel 23- thanks for the laugh! Now let me clean up the milk.

  • What the division that produces some of GM’s biggest and thirstiest vehicles has to do with the rainforest escapes me at the moment

That’s simple; higher atmospheric CO2 concentrations help plants grow.

demonstrating the difference between petroleum and ethanol in a fun-filled way

That’s simple, too. I’ll let my vehicle drink the petroleum, while I drink the ethanol….

    Auric Tech:

    I schecond (hic) that moshun!

I wonder if they could steal some thunder from another ad:

Kids! What car company makes cars that run on DELICIOUS CORN?

(Loud crash as a giant glass pitcher emblazoned with “E85″ wades through a faux-brick wall).

    “TOOL AID”! cry the children.

Here in Canada, GM are having there annual Canada wide clearance “Sale”, every purchaser gets a free amount of Gasoline up to 2500 kms! ahh beauty eh? I can put 2500 kms on any vehicle I have in a Month or less, some deal eh?

  • Rspaight

    GM’s definition of “fuel-friendly”:

I saw an ad during the Olympics last night that showed aerial views of highways with thought bubbles popping out from various cars reading things like “I need an MPG upgrade” and “I’d like to fill up less often.”

Then I was told about the great deals I could get on the Silverado, Avalanche and Tahoe. 20 MPG highway!

Are US consumers really that dumb?
