cops.jpgApparently there's no "win" in Darwin. So listen, we know it's difficult, but the next time the police confiscate $2,000 in cash from your home while you're being arrested for drug possession, take the bus when you show up at the sheriff's station to demand your cash back. Remember, if you don't know your history, you're doomed to repeat it. If you're Charles Chambers of Anderson, SC however, you're just doomed. That's right dear readers, MSNBC tells us that he rolled into the police station in a stolen car. His plan would have worked perfectly, too, if not for the fact that victims of car theft generally report their cars stolen. And the one Mr. Chambers came rollin' in just happened to fit the description of a vehicle stolen three hours earlier. It didn't help that when the cops pulled him over, Mr. Chambers had to shut the car off with a screwdriver. Hey, at least he's not as dumb as this woman. Wait, no — yes he is.

A guy in my old hometown tried to steal a car across the street from the police station in the middle of the day. He ripped some poor guy out of his SAAB 9000 but then could not figure out how to get it started. He was still working on it when the police walked over and arrested him.

I guess sticking the ignition between the seats was good for something for once.

Except the 9000’s ignition is not between the seats but on the steering column, which makes that all the more baffling.

Maybe he couldn’t drive a stick shift

About 20 yrs ago I had a Lincoln Town car stolen from the used car lot at a dealership where I was working. Guy took the car for a test drive and made a second set of keys for it. He got caught when he went to see his parole officer with it. He could not explain how he got a one year old Lincoln to his PO. BTW he was on parole for auto theft. He did the same thing 2 years earlier! When I went to go get the car from the police they were still laughing about this guy!

Chambers was charged with possession of a stolen automobile, driving under suspension and a tag violation.

Talk about adding insult to injury, he gets charged for stealing a car with expired tags along with all the other charges.

In my hometown (Kerrville, TX) a criminal made News of the Weird one day when he robbed a a bank and walked across the street to open an account with the stolen money. The police station was only three blocks away (small town) and the perp was apprehended quickly.

    Criminals are stupid.
