Wow, that story reminds me of this...

<em>"There's no way to rule innocent men. The only power any government has is the power to crack down on criminals. Well, when there aren't enough criminals one makes them. One declares so many things to be a crime that it becomes impossible for men to live without breaking laws. Who wants a nation of law-abiding citizens? What's there in that for anyone?" ('Atlas Shrugged' 1957)</em>

I guess the cop who tweaked his gun to catch innocent motorists was just an excitable boy.

I'm proud to live in Lexington Massachusetts, where we started the revolution against those bastards. Down with the British! (The rulers, of course, not the citizenry.)

just need to raise the fuel and property taxes to help fund the police...
or, perhaps the police could help show some budget constraint...
or, maybe a bit of both...

I saw a werewolf with a Chinese menu in his hand
Walking through the streets of Soho in the rain
He was looking for a place called Lee Ho Fook's
Going to get himself a big dish of beef chow mein
Werewolves of London

If you hear him howling around your kitchen door
Better not let him in
Little old lady got mutilated late last night
Werewolves of London again

<b>He's the hairy-handed gent who ran amuck in Kent</b>
Lately he's been overheard in Mayfair
Better stay away from him
He'll rip your lungs out, Jim
I'd like to meet his tailor
Werewolves of London

No constitution or bill of rights? So what?! We have rights and freedoms just like any other country, the real problem is what liechter mentioned, not enough people writing letters to representatives.

Over the past couple of decades speeding's started to become one of those things that is looked down upon by a significant portion of the population, so the safety lobby is a lot louder than the anti-ticketing lobby. Partly for this reason, it's not a major issue at any election, so voting for different politicians won't solve anything, there's no MPs (members of parliament) that I know of who actively campaign against speeding tickets, and there's definately no party with any sort of speeding leniency on their agenda.

If more and more of these people banded together, especially those who can prove they have been wrongly convicted, then maybe the over-zealous (in the view of most of this forum at least) speed enoforcement would start to be reversed.

Before grabbing their guns, they could take other less dramatic actions, such as voting for different politicians, writing letters to their representatives, or suing in the courts. Considering they don't appear willing to do that, I doubt they would be too willing to grab their guns and blow away the cops' heads.
