Noting GM sells interests me anyway so this is a waste of time. Again the focus is on price, not product.

GM screws their customers yet again. All those (maybe) loyal customers trying to sell their used GM on eBay are going to get their car devalued even more when it gets flooded cars direct from the factory. This move isn't going to increase traffic on ebay by much but will flood the site with even more cheap cars after the same amount of customers. Either they are going to price them at their true value to sell them, under cutting the private seller or they will try and make bigger profits and find the small amount of suckers willing to pay too much not selling as many in that case. You get shafted when you buy it and shafted again when you try and sell it.

so let me get this straight...we can now all, from the comfort of our homes, attempt to out-bid each other for cars nobody really wants to begin with? Now this makes sense! Is GM hoping that we'll all get that "eBay/auction-fever" and bid high on every last used Malibu on their lots?

In my experience dealers who advertise on cars.com and autotrader think that by not coming into the dealership, having financing already arranged, having researched the vehicle, and having a set of clear and easily (in theory) answered questions a customer has agreed to pay thousands more than said vehicle is worth.

I wonder if Overstock.com would undercut them.
They used to promote the Crossfire liquidation.

I don't see why they don't just go all the way. So many dealers sell used car inventory on EBay and have Internet Sales Managers anyway.

So they will be selling their "certified" used cars on the same site as the autographed Wayne Newton pillowcases?

There's always that eBay premium that bidders can expect to pay when buying anything from that site, so I guess that can be a good thing for GM.
