This only proves that many of our elected representatives can be ignorant and wasteful just like GM's management. It takes one to know one happened in this case.

Well…3.1 billion from Sweden, I’ve got it, GM gets 6B to purchase Volvo from Ford, pulls the plug on Saturn and instantly has a network for Saab/Volvo/Holden, and that’s it, maybe Opel is in there somewhere too, Maximize their existing energies into a sold product line that can be sold anywhere on earth. Proceed with efforts to consolidate their traditional domestic brands…. (If possible)

Ford takes 6 large and absorbs/cherry picks off Chrysler, i.e. market share and Jeep. Sells off picked bones to the inevitable Chinese or Indian concern.

Nothing here addresses management issues and that’s another story, but the Governments of North America need to quickly agree on universal safety and emission standards. Why not inline with the EU? This alone should relieve engineering and development budgets of millions and millions of dollars. Any vehicle that is offered for sale in the EU should be damn good enough for any market in the world. Period!

Yes, yes, senate... hurry up and vote already, lest the public gets wind of what you intend to do between their shopping trips to the mall and taking their GM product to a repair shop.

I've never seen so much hype, hyperbole, wasted verbage and press coverage over something that will be so meaningless at the end of the day. Except for the Volt, of course.

Quote : <em>"...so that we can continue at full speed on the restructuring and advanced technologies plans that will form a stronger, more viable GM."
</em>
Geeeeeeeeeeeeeezus GM stop talking like this tiny amount of money is going to make any difference...unless of course, y'all think you are getting the whole $15B for yourself which is almost exactly enough to run GM for one month. Is that enough breathing room? Yes? No? Bueller?
