See? I knew this video box thing would come in handy again. Obviously, we need someone to scan and blog YouTube on TTAC's behalf (robert.farago@thetruthaboutcars.com). Meanwhile Frank ran into this gem of a site while looking for the official EPA mpgs for the Hummer H2. Did you know the mondo-SUV is still exempt from EPA mpg requirements (it gets "around" 10 – 12 mpg)? I bet the impolite webslingers at FUH2.com do. After all, the site's strapline and pretty permalink both read "Fuck You and Your H2." Their beef? "While our brothers and sisters are off in the Middle East risking their lives to secure America's fossil fuel future, H2 drivers are pissing away our 'spoils of victory' during each trip to the grocery store." More specifically, they claim the H2 is a polluter (producing "3.4 metric tons of carbon emissions in a typical year, nearly double that of G.M.'s Chevrolet Malibu sedan"), a death machine ("You'd better hope that you don't collide with an H2 in your economy car. You can kiss your ass goodbye thanks to the H2's massive weight and raised bumpers") and, most aggravatingly of all, a tax loophole ("Under the current tax laws, business owners can deduct nearly half the cost of their H2s"). Anyway, there's a certain monotony to the 4470 pics of one-finger saluted H2s, but we like page 355. What do the Padres have to do with this?

    I think those people need anger management.

    The way I see it 3.4 Metric tons/yr is still less than most of the mid-80’s jalopies I see running all over town are putting out, and the Hummer looks way cooler, eh? Get a life, people…

    I think it’s hilarious! But maybe I need anger management as well…

    I saw this site some time back. Photo after photo of people flipping the bird from well behind an H2 or to parked, empty H2’s. I wasn’t impressed by this gallery of cowards.

    I guess everyone is envious of something. I would speculate that most of the individuals who are flipping off H2s can’t afford one of their own otherwise they’d be perfectly happy to own one. What a bunch of crackpots.

    Your CO2 will be fairly proportionate to your fuel economy. Between cars with similar mpg, the one that “pollutes” more in the traditional sense probably emits somewhat less CO2 per mile (the fuel being turned into other crud, instead of CO2, NOx emissions aside).

    I don’t flip Hummers off. I do laugh at them. I could afford one but I’m not into pointless waste and “lookitme” consumerism.

    True. This said, most hummer drivers need some good shrink sessions!

  • When I see a Hummer, I always think of the Hyundai Santa Fe commercial where all the other SUVs are earthmoving equipment.

  • Alex Rodriguez

    What is scary about this is it is one short step to what is happening in Europe where SUVs are being spray painted and having their tires slashed by the self-appointed “SUV environmental police” to supposedly save the planet.

    It is one thing to have your whacked out opinions, it is another to destroy someone else’s personal property.

    I’d just like to see one of these FUH2ers actually do it to someone who owns an H2 in person. Including one of my neighbors who drives an H2 and spent 15 some odd years in between the Rangers and SF.

    @A-Rod:

    Its already happening. Not to long back, my mom owned a Mercedes ML430. Someone keyed the ish out of it, and slapped one of those anti-SUV stickers on it using some sorta glue.

    Actually, Robert, I don’t think TTAC needs anyone to blog Youtube. I can’t keep up as it is!
