The license plate shield is frowned upon here but is not illegal as police can still see the numbers from street level. Only the Eye of Mordor is blind to your number. Don’t be afraid of your government.

In America, most speed cameras are implemented by municipalities. Enforced as code or ordinance violations and NOT as moving violations. While there may be a financial penalty involved, your license is free from points or suspension.

The Escort Passport 9500iX radar detector is your best defence. It has most speed camera locations loaded and is immune to VG2 detection (s*@k on that Virginia pigs).

Of course, your area should have an online forum keeping track of speed traps and cameras to avoid. And kill that revenue stream for the coppers. In the States, we’re used to having “a well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free state…” I’m talking to you, Britania!

If any Brits are reading this: they sell some license plate covers to prevent your plate from being photographed.

I was stopped by the (Lancashire) Police for having a dirty numberplate once, so I doubt they would take kindly to this approach.

If no one in the Essex media is reporting this as a warning to drivers then it proves that it’s NOT a speed deterrent but a revenue stream for the local authorities.

Speeding is something that should be deterred by law enforcement officers and not measured (for money) by electronic survelliance. This setup does nothing to prevent high speed collisions. A posted cop at dangerous spots would save lives.
