Volkswagen had no use for Scania, as VW’s commercial truck division only operates in South America.

There are some people in Hannover who would disagree with you: Volkswagen’s commercial division, a.k.a Volkswagen Nutzfahrzeuge, at VW lovingly (or derogatorily) called “Nutzis.”

All they lacked was medium to heavy trucks, something that irked them to no end since I was with them from the 70’s on.
Ever since VW had acquired Audi,they wanted big rigs. They had their eyes on Volvo. Their flirtations with MAN had many stages. They finally got a healthy share of MAN and all of Scania – much to their regret, because the commercial truck market, and especially the mid to heavy segments are a nightmare at the moment. And they will be for years to come.

There are many who wish Pischi (many folks in Wolfsburg never learned to pronounce his Bavarian name right) would have succeeded in unloading Scania.

His – current – wife Ursula (previously the nannie of his previous children) drives a 1.2m Bugatti. And he sued a magazine that wrote that he himself “drives like a wild pig,” that he “kills chicken with his car” and that “farmers worry about their fowl” if he’s in the neighborhood. The judge ruled against the wild pig, but allowed the reporting about the murdered chickens.

Great write up. Considering his family lineage and the company he runs, what does Piech drive.
I’m sure he rides around in a Bentley limo or maybe even a Pheaton to get to the office but what does he DRIVE on the weekends or when we wants to get away to the track. Bugatti, Lambo, Audi R8 or could it be something from Stuttgart.

Nice start – but when are we getting to the juicy stuff? For instance, that he’s dyslexic, and that he fathered at least 12 children with at least 4 women – I’m not saying wives? Once he was asked how many children he has. Answer: “At least 12. Hard to tell with certainty.” Or that he’s operating more paranoid than the head of the NSA? Before the Supervisory Board of VW convenes – in continuously changing places, often announced only shortly before, and thoroughly swept by the Volkswagen Werkschutz, all board members – including Lower Saxony’s Premier Christian Wulff – have to surrender their cell phones. The Nokias and Blackberrys get yellow post-its with the names of their owners and are returned after the meeting is over. Wise Board members delete their SMS and call history before every meeting. Or how he never fires a top executive? He drops poisonous remarks about him, first in-house, then in the media, and when a meeting is called with the director of personnel, everybody knows: This is a discussion about a severance payment. Or how top execs push their colleagues out of the way in a mad scramble when they board the company plane and Piech is part of the party? “Last one sits next to Piech.”
