Does anyone think this was done for tax purposes? I’m a little fuzzy regarding the law in this area, but a loss due to a decline in stock price can’t be written off as a loss for tax purposes until it is sold. Right?

KK only sold 0.4% of his 6.5% of Ford. How is that a “decision to sell off his stake”? 6.1% is still a pretty big stake remaining.

I was initally a supporter of what appeared to be a vote of confidence for the home team by Mr. Kerkorian. But, geez — what a bad time to bail out if his investment was to show some level of support for Mr. Mullaly and his leadership at Ford. Ultimately, I don’t think his pulling out does any real damage to Ford beyond what is already F-ed up, but he certainly has done snowjob to the perception of the company. Thanks Kirk!
