“What happened to the podcasts?” has been an increasingly common refrain in the TTAC mailbox. To which we reply, “it’s freaking summer!” Messrs. Farago and Niedermeyer have been too busy chasing across the country a supermodel in a Ferrari 308 GTS to do any podcasting over the last month or so. But now that the Wagon Queen Family Truckster is broken down, it’s time to get back to the grind. You think you hate it now, but wait ’til you drive it!

Nice to see you back, but… 4 minutes discussing double-spacing? It felt like longer, too.

When I took typing class (back in the dark ages before it became “keyboarding” and was actually accomplished on a device called a typewriter) we were taught that punctuation at the end of a sentence was followed by two spaces, as were colons. All other punctuation (commas, semicolons, periods after abbreviations) were followed by a single space. Spacing twice at the end of a sentence is a habit for those of us who were trained in the rapidly-disappearing art of touch typing.
This started falling from practice with the advent of automatic justification and variable-width fonts. However, the Modern Language Association states “there is nothing wrong with using two spaces after concluding punctuation marks.”
Two things about the Volt:
1) I bet it will be a great car. It looks much better than any other hybrid and its modular lay out will prove to be superior to other hybrids.
2) It’s still a car for idiots, because it simply can’t be priced anywhere near the competition. It’s a car for the rich & the smug who want to clean their consciousness and tell the world about it. Then again, Tesla and Fisker will fight for that exact same demographic and they have more appeal to these people.
‘Intermittent Daily Podcast’ would be more truthful.
