This is my first Mercedes, even the same colour: a 1968 250SE sedan, and what a car it was too. I don't think I've ever sat in a more comfortable driver's seat and the performance was phenomenal especially considering the engine size.

I grew up in a 1972 W104 250, so I had an almost-right guess in about 1 second. Anyone see anything in this picture that would differentiate the W108 from the W104? Come to think of it, both thw W104 and W108 had (at least in the USA) the "vents" around the hubcap; this picture doesn't show that. Perhaps it is a down-market W105 (240D, for example).

The center wheel cover is a Mercedes-Benz hubcap. The horizontal trim line just above this left-front wheel suggests a W108 or W114 series sedan or coupe (1966-1973 if memory serves). The simple trim ring (which does not have the vent trim of the more elaborate "glory rim" suggests a car from early in the series and/or a down-market model--i.e., not an "S" series car.

Then again, the horizontal trim line might be an aftermarket add-on to minimize risk of door dings. In that case, the car could be a W110/W111/W112 series sedan (fintail or heckflosse of 1959-1968) or one of the related coupes of that era.

Great concept, folks. Let's keep running with this one.

Well, that was way too fast. Vordhosbn got it, W108 Benz. I originally had a smaller snippet, but got anxious. The painted dog-dish hubcaps give this one away; distinctively Benz.

This was a test; next time it's going to be a lot smaller.
