  I’m not sure how much pot they smoked before they started filming, but it was probably a bit more than necessary for driving. I’m especially glad they made the girl ride in the back – she probably would have hurt herself in the grown-up seats.

  (yes, I did take a picture of my Element’s odometer when it crossed that line…but it never occurred to me to make a documentary.)

  100,000 miles, eh? My Dad had a 1960’s VW Beetle that went over 440,000 miles…and I once owned a Honda Prelude that went over 350,000 miles before I traded it in-it was still running well.

  I can wait to see their 200,000 celebration.

  Some people have incredibly low expectations of their vehicles (probably a Detroit vehicle). I’ll be mildly pleased when my car hits 400k KM.

  I did. It struggled to get its new “1″ in place. A bit shy and not used to the position I guess. Probably shell-shocked that it made it that far. Or just didn’t want to roll into view of the crazies inside.

  Having owned a Pontiac Grand Prix of the same generation, I can confirm that these things making it to 100k is indeed quite a feat.

  You guys going “it’s not a big deal” have not taken the dark, depressing path of Pontiac ownership.

  Another craptastic GM interior. The leather looks like vinyl, the tuck and roll stitch pattern looks like the 1950’s and the speedometer looks like it should be in that Cozy Coupe.

  100k was a big deal 50 years ago.

  I bought a used Dodge Caravan with 99100 miles on it. The 100k milestone was somewhat anticlimactic after owning the vehicle only 3 weeks.

  I’ll celebrate when it hits 200k.

  Back when I had the Hyundai, I set it up so that the main odometer would read ‘123456′ when the trip odo read ‘7890′. Sadly, I had to change a light bulb in cluster and accidentally bumped the reset button for the trip odo about 300 miles early.

  My Saab 9000 is sitting on 209000 miles, and that’s not a big deal to me at all. And I’m nearly positive that my car is more likely to be running at 300k than that one is to be at 200.

  My Grand Prix of similar vintage has 131,000 miles with no major problems and is currently running great. I suspect it will go much further with proper maintenance.

  As soon as the Ranger hits 200k, I’ll be pleased. Getting ready to roll over 150k, and I’ve heard of Rangers lasting a while. Thank the Gods it isn’t a Pontiac :D

  250k is actually the new hallmark of owner achievement.

  You want to know what vehicle gets there more frequently than any other? It’s the Chevy Silverado. At least that’s what I find at the auctions.

  I did the same lame thing in a friend’s Corolla in the 80’s when it hit 200K – which is impressive given western NY’s salted winter roads.

  During the 200K turnover, we drove to and ate at every Mighty Taco franchise in existence at the time. I think it was a 100+ mile trip…

  100,000 really isnt that much. We tossed my car at 296,000.

  Of course 100k probably is an achievement in the plastic cladded Pontiacs…
