If a report from Britain’s AutoExpress is to be believed, the front clip of the next-generation Honda Civic hatchback – due to arrive in North America for the first time since 2000 (in non-Si form) – will look “near identical” to the Civic Coupe concept revealed in New York.

Head of Honda UK, Philip Crossman, told the UK outlet the next Civic hatchback will only differ from the coupe at the rear third of the car and all sheetmetal fore of that will be the same. In addition to a coupe, sedan, and hatchback, AutoExpress also posits a new Tourer model will likely be available, though we can’t see this version of the Civic coming to our shores.

The Civic will ride on a common architecture for both European and North American models. Under hood will be a brand new drivetrain with a hybrid version available later.

“We’ll come back with a class-leading hybrid powertrain in the next five years,” said Crossman, “and it’s likely to make as much impact as the VTEC valve system.”

Octane Ratings With 2013 Fuel Prices

Automakers are looking to boost octane in the gasoline consumers use as a possible new tool to cheaply and easily meet ever-tightening standards.

At the 2015 SAE World Congress in Detroit last week, panelists representing Ford, General Motors, Chevron, and Renewable Fuels Association discussed the idea of raising the octane rating of regular gasoline from 87 to 95, Automotive News reports.

The group agreed that by doing so, fuel economy would climb between 3 percent and 6 percent while also lowering CO2 emissions by 2 percent. In turn, the engineers could make a few modifications to the pistons and/or cylinder heads in order to increase a given engine’s compression ratio – a process that can occur quickly with little in the way of investment or labor – to enable the use of higher-octane fuels.

However, boosting the octane rating would also boost the price per gallon of gasoline. The U.S. Energy Information Administration noted that the current gulf between regular and high-octane blends comes to an average of 37 cents as of last week. While automakers aren’t willing to make their consumers pay more at the pump for the touted improvements, they’re also finding less inexpensive methods to meet increasingly stringent fuel economy and emissions standards, such as the 2025 mandate of 54.5 mpg fleet average.

Another problem: as newer vehicles with higher-compression engines would benefit from the increase in octane, Chevron research engineer Amir Maria said most vehicles on the road at present would be better off on 87 octane – the rating the engines were calibrated to run – and consumers would be dinged by as much as $1,500 more over 200,000 miles if they went for 95 octane.

Honda revealed the fifth-gen Step WGN for the Japanese market Thursday, which not only features a new flexible tailgate, but the same engine planned for the 2016 Civic.

The main draw for the seven-passenger Step WGN is the “Waku Waku” tailgate, which can be lifted up in most circumstances, or can be opened from the side via the tailgate’s sub-door. The sub-door has three levels of opening angles, allowing greater ease of access to cargo for occupants when the kei van is parked in a tight space, such as a shopping center or home garage. Third-row passengers can also use the door to exit without opening the full tailgate when the door is paired with the third-row 60-40 Magic Seat.

Under the hood is the 1.5-liter direct-injection VTEC turbo set to provide power for the 2016 Civic. Horsepower and torque figures were not mentioned at this time, but Honda claims output is “equivalent to that of a 2.4-litre engine even while driving with multiple passengers and on hilly roads.” Power is directed to the front or all four corners via CVT.

Want a Porsche 911 Turbo S, but with a Ferrari badge? You might want to check your bank account.

According to AutoGuide, Motor Trend’s Johnny Lieberman dropped a bombshell on his Twitter account, stating that Ferrari has a twin-turbo V6 in the works. Said vehicle is expected to hit showrooms in 2019 for a starting price of $180,000, and will lay the smack down on the Mercedes-AMG GT, McLaren 570S, and the aforementioned Porsche.

AutoGuide adds that the twin-turbo Ferrari could become “a spiritual Dino successor,” invoking the lower-cost marque from the 1960s and 1970s for models with fewer than 12 cylinders howling under the hood.

A new option available to the Toyota Auris today, the automaker debuted the second turbocharged piece of its new engine family.

The 8NR-FTS 1.2-liter turbo-four uses a single-scroll turbo paired with a cylinder head/water-cooler exhaust manifold combo to bring adaptive intake cooling to the motor no matter how hot things are. The setup delivers 114 horses and 136 lb-ft of torque to the front of the small hatchback.

Other features include CVVT on the intake to enable use of the Atkinson cycle, and advanced direct injection with strong tumble flow inside the cylinder chamber for an improved air-fuel mixture.

Though the 1.2-liter is available now on the Auris, the Auris-based Scion iM won’t likely see the engine under its hood as a result of the brand’s single-trim, single-price scheme.

Want to know what the 2016 Honda Civic will look like? The Honda Civic Concept is a sign of what’s to come.

The 2016 Civic lineup will include sedan, coupe and five-door hatchback styles, with Si and Type R trims coming to the party. Power will include a VTEC 1.5-liter direct-injection turbo-four paired with either a six-speed manual or CVT.

Other upcoming features include Honda’s Honda Sensing safety suite, as well as improvements in NVH levels and fuel economy.

The sedan will be first to hit showrooms this fall, with the coupe and hatchback to follow. The hatch will be the only Civic not made in North America, being shipped from Honda’s factory in Swindon, England.

Fresh from its high-wire act over London, the 2016 Jaguar XF made it over the Atlantic in time for its 2015 New York Auto Show debut.

Based upon Jaguar’s aluminum-intensive architecture — which reduces weight by 265 lbs over the outgoing model — the second-gen XF will come in five trims: XF Pure/ SE, XF Prestige, XF R-Sport, XF Portfolio and XF S. Power is bestowed upon the sedan via three diesel and three gasoline powerplants, though only one — a supercharged 3-liter V6 pumping between 340 and 380 horsepower to the back or all corners through an eight-speed automatic — is available for the U.S. market at this time.

Zero to 60 comes in 5.0 seconds, while adaptive suspension, brake torque vectoring, and Jaguar’s new Adaptive Surface Response system — able to determine what type of road the XF is rolling upon and acting accordingly — keep everything in line.

Other features include: Jaguar’s new InControl Touch connected-vehicle systems with customizable interface; a smartphone app to allow the owner to run diagnostics, warm up the interior, and unlock the doors; intelligent speed limiter; and adaptive LED headlamps.

The 2016 Jaguar XF is set to hit showrooms in the winter, with diesel and higher-performance options following soon after. Pricing information was not available at this time.

Coming soon to a track near you, DeltaWing will bring its signature design to the GT class, and eyes set on the showroom down the road.

The latest racing variant is expected to demonstrate on the track “that with far less horsepower than many of today’s best sports cars, a two-seat performance car based on the DeltaWing® architecture would deliver the same performance, yet with previously unimagined fuel economy and efficiency.”

The GT will, like the DWC13 Coupe campaigned by DeltaWing Racing Cars, be a coupe using weight distribution to its advantage, thanks to its narrow nose and wide backside putting 30 percent up front, the rest in back. The project won’t interfere with the team and its efforts in IMSA’s TUDOR series.

Meanwhile, that same basic design forms the basis for two- and four-passenger prototypes that could lead to a road-legal version of the DeltaWing. Preliminary data suggests the design would net “an unadjusted EPA fuel economy rating of nearly 74 mpg Highway and over 57 mpg combined rating,” adding that if one could buy a DeltaWing from the showroom today, they would have a vehicle that was not only the most fuel efficient conventionally powered vehicle in the United States, but would also meet the 2025 54.5 mpg standard. The ratings are for a DeltaWing powered by a 138-horsepower 1.4-liter engine placed in the four-passenger variant.

Aside from traditional ICEs, the company says the prototype could be fitted with hybrid, diesel, CNG, hydrogen and electric power, with results ranging from better range for diesel, EV and FCV versions, to a 42 percent reduction in emissions for gasoline models.

When the Cadillac CT6 hits showrooms later this year, power for the flagship will come in the form of two V6 engines.

The mills are a 3.6-liter naturally aspirated unit, and a 3-liter twin-turbo. Both engines are equipped with active fuel management and start-stop, helping to improve fuel economy when compared to the engines they will replace in other Cadillac products.

Power figures for the 3.6-liter come to 335 horsepower and 284 lb-ft of torque, while the twin-turbo engine pumps out 400 horses and 400 lb-ft of torque. Both V6s will be paired with versions of General Motors’ Hydra-Matic eight-speed auto: the 8L90 for the turbocharged unit, the 8L45 for the naturally aspirated engine.

Both engines use aluminum blocks with more structuring in the bulkhead for increased rigidity; forged-steel crankshafts; polymer-coated, high-copper-content cylinder heads; cushioned chain sprockets for greater noise reduction; and a new two-pump oiling system for greater fuel efficiency and quieter operation.

Both V6s will be produced at GM’s Romulus Powertrain Operations in Romulus, Mich. — thanks to a $540-million investment to build the new engines — and will be placed under the bonnet of CT6 prior to delivery, which is set to begin between October and December of 2015.

Due to lack of interest, General Motors is cutting back its 100,000-mile/five-year powertrain warranty for 2016 Chevrolet and GMC models.

Automotive News reports the new warranty will cover the powertrain for up to five years or 60,000 miles, with courtesy transportation and roadside assistance still available for the period. The new standard matches those of Toyota, Ford and Honda. The coverage’s two-year free maintenance scheme will also be cut from four free visits for oil changes, tire rotations et al to just two.

Though the original extended warranty was meant to give consumers more confidence in GM products when first introduced for the 2007 model year, the memo sent out to dealers this week stated the following:

Through research, we have determined that when purchasing a new vehicle, included maintenance and warranty rank low on the list of reasons why consumers consider a particular brand over another. As a result, we have benchmarked our competitors, reviewed our current offerings and have concluded the following modifications to align closely with our customers’ needs and expectations.

Only the Chevrolet Volt will retain the 100,000-mile powertrain warranty for its battery pack and drive unit; Buick’s and Cadillac’s six-year/70,000 warranty will remain unchanged, as well.

BMW riders may soon find a W3 in place of a four-cylinder on their cruiser bikes.

Autoblog reports the automaker has two separate patents filed for its W3 motorcycle engines, both meant to fill the same space as a traditional V-twin mill.

Speaking of V-twins, one of the W3s is a modification of said unit, where two cylinders share a crankpin while the third has one all to itself. The other W3 uses a fan design with pushrods controlling the valves.

As to where these engines might go if produced, a possible cruiser bike that could throwdown against the Ducati Diavel and similar cruisers would likely be the host for the W3s.

Elio Motors, the startup automaker hoping to produce and sell a low cost, high mileage reverse trike announced yesterday that the prototype of the IAV designed 0.9 liter, three cylinder single overhead cam engine to be used in their vehicle has successfully started dynamometer testing. A short video of the engine running in a test cell has also been released. While it remains to be seen if Elio will be able to raise the $200 million or so they say they need to start production in 2016 (pushed back from this year), the engine test is one of the more important steps on the journey to reach that goal.

While no horsepower or torque figures have been released, Elio Motors founder and CEO, Paul Elio, expressed satisfaction with the initial testing. “We are extremely pleased with our first run on the dynamometer,” Elio said. “Seeing this new technology come to fruition has been one of the most exciting stages in our history. This prototype puts us right were we need to be at this stage of development.”

Considering how many existing car companies are making or developing three cylinder engines with about one liter of displacement, many have questioned why Elio Motors isn’t just buying an off the shelf motor from another company, particularly since the company has publicized how they plan to keep costs and prices low by using many components already being produced by automotive suppliers along with more bespoke parts like their engine. Paul Elio addressed that question in the company’s announcement. “We are literally trying to reinvent the auto industry, so why go the conventional route and rework someone else’s engine? There really was nothing available that combined the speed and power that we want and our customers deserve.”

That’s an interesting comment because at 55 horsepower, the Elio engine makes less than half the power of Ford’s one liter Ecoboost triple, though the Ecoboost is, of course, turbocharged. Previously, Elio Motors indicated to TTAC that Comau, which is doing Elio’s production engineering and automation at GM’s former Shreveport, LA factory where Elio hopes to maker their trike, has reserved an assembly station on the engine line for the installation of a possible turbocharger.

Paul Elio’s remarks are also interesting because IAV is indeed more or less reworking the design of the Suzuki triple most familiar to Americans as the engine in the Geo Metro. That’s the same engine that Elio Motors has been using in their prototype mules, like the one I test drove last summer. I suppose Paul’s entitled to some wiggle room on his statement because although the Elio 0.9 liter engine is ultimately based on the Suzuki architecture, and while Elio initially did consider putting the Suzuki motor back into production, they determined that it simply was not a modern enough design to meet their objectives and the engine has been redesigned. All of the major engine components were designed specifically for Elio by IAV, including the cylinder block, cylinder head, valve cover, front cover, oil pan, crankshaft, camshaft, valve train, pistons, connecting rods, bearings and water pump.

TTAC has asked Elio Motors about the actual horsepower and torque results from the testing and we’ll publish them if and when we get them.

Sonny Crockett may have a new ride soon, now that the Ferrari 488 GTB has made its early debut at the 2015 Geneva Auto Show.

The 488 GTB boasts a 3.9-liter turbo-eight pushing 660 horses and 560 lb-ft of torque to the back through a seven-speed dual-clutch auto, and is able to go from nil to 124 mph in 8.3 seconds. The replacement for the 458 weights a little more than said 458, coming in at 3,000 dry.

Other features include Ferrari’s new Side Slip Angle Control, allowing one to drive in anger without fearing the wrath of oversteer, as well as a 50 percent increase in downforce over the outgoing 458.

The Cadillac CT6’s looks may not be as “greatly daring” as the B&B had hoped, but the premium sedan might make up for that with twin-turbo V8 power.

According to Road & Track, brand president Johan de Nysschen turned up for a Q&A with the commentariat over on Jalopnik, where he gave this response to a question by the blog’s own Michael Ballaban:

CT6 is a car that really sets the standard in many respects with regard to advanced new body construction technology. It’s a Cadillac, so it stands to reason that it’s great to drive, very refined and sophisticated. The lightweight body construction allows us to push the envelope when it comes to powertrain in a way we know that the rest of the industry will follow. This includes a very wide mix of engines, starting with a 2-liter turbo, up to, eventually, a high-performance advanced V-8 turbo.

De Nysschen reaffirmed his statement when another commenter asked about the CT6’s ability to keep up with the likes of the BMW 7 Series and Mercedes S-Class, proclaiming the sedan’s “lightweight body structure” would provide the platform for “formidable performance” with a twin-turbo V6, let alone a twin-turbo V8.

With a little help from the Internet, images of the firepower for the upcoming 2017 Hyundai Genesis Coupe have escaped, along with some specs.

The Korean Car Blog reports the 3.3 Turbo GDi, a 3.3-liter twin-turbo V6, will deliver 365 horsepower and 379 lb-ft of torque to the back of the Coupe, which is expected to ride on a shortened version of the Genesis Sedan’s platform when it hits showrooms in late 2016. The new engine gains 27 horsepower and 84 lb-ft of torque over the current 3.8-liter naturally aspirated V6’s 348 hp/295 lb-ft.

Another feature of the 3.3-liter is Hyundai’s Intermediate CVVT technology, though little information was found thus far.

The Genesis Coupe is also expected to receive a V8 alongside the turbo-six, with speculation pointing towards the 5-liter mill in the Genesis Sedan. Hyundai’s HTRAC AWD system is also projected to be an option for the performance coupe.

Hoping for diesel power in the new Toyota Tacoma? You can breathe now.

According to AutoGuide, Tacoma/Tundra engineering chief Mike Sweers said that diesel power won’t be coming to the Tacoma — despite the Chevrolet Colorado and GMC Canyon receiving theirs — due to the Environmental Protection Agency’s upcoming Tier 3 regulations, set to go into effect in 2017. The regs would greatly tighten emissions on diesel-powered light vehicles, making such vehicles more costly to build for automakers, if not consider in the first place:

Diesel, from a fuel economy standpoint, is about a 30 percent improvement right out of the box. The downside to diesel is the emissions has to be certified at the same level as a gas engine. So the way to do that is you have to put on an after-treatment system. So if we consider that cost, versus the fuel economy improvement, and the fact that diesel is $1 more per gallon more than gasoline, is there a return on the investment?

Even if the ROI from each after-treatment system installed — said to add $3,000 to the cost of a vehicle — was worth it now, Sweers warns it wouldn’t be by 2019, when even-tighter diesel-emissions regs would come into force. He says some diesels would be shelved as a result, automakers deciding those engines aren’t worth the headache.

Thus, the Tacoma will be avoiding the green pump handle, opting for either a gasoline-fueled 2.7-liter I4 or 3.5-liter V6 to provide power.

Power for the first-ever Cayman GT comes from a 3.8-liter flat-six derived from the engine pushing the 911 Carrera S along. A six-speed manual with dynamic gearbox mounts is the sole transmission available. Top speed is 183 mph, and zero to 60 comes in 4.2 seconds.

Braking, suspension and chassis components throughout the Cayman GT4 come from the 911 GT3, with ceramic composite brakes available as an option. Other features include extensive aero; leather and Alcantara bucket seats with optional carbon fiber composite; sport steering wheel providing direct feedback to the driver; and a Sport Chrono Package with Track Precision app.

The Cayman GT4 is set to bow at the 2015 Geneva Auto Show in March before heading into U.S. showrooms in July. The price of admission will begin at $84,600, plus $995 destination.

As the price at the pump continues to plummet — diesel not so much — British valuation guide Glass’s predicts big gas guzzlers new and used will return to the motorway.

According to Just-Auto, Glass’s valuation chief Rupert Pontin says that despite such vehicles with 3-liter+ engines falling out of favor in the United Kingdom since austerity took hold five years ago, falling oil prices could soon motivate consumers into ditching their Ford Fiestas for BMW 335i Sedans:

While no-one could call petrol and diesel prices exactly cheap, they are certainly falling to a level where some consumers won’t place fuel economy as high on their list of priorities as we have seen in recent years. Bigger engined cars are suddenly more viable.

Pontin adds that while this makes for a wonderful few years for bigger-engined vehicles, the environment could take a hit for the duration due to increased emissions from said vehicles.

Honda announced Tuesday it would invest $340 million into its Anna, Ohio engine plant to help increase production of its family of fuel-efficient engines.

Bloomberg reports the automaker added a new assembly line at the plant for production of its new VTEC turbo-four engine family. The engines, which increase efficiency with variable valve technology, are set to arrive in vehicles later this year.

Other clean-vehicle projects in the works by Honda include the production version of the FCV Concept seen at this year’s Detroit Auto Show for 2016, the Acura NSX hybrid exotic car due later in 2015, and both a PHEV and an EV by 2018.

Cadillac finally revealed its 2016 CTS-V performance sedan at the 2015 Detroit Auto Show, but the brand also let it be known that it’s considering taking on the Mercedes-Benz CLA in the entry-level premium game, as well [Live photos now available – CA].

The CTS-V derives its power from a 640-horsepower supercharged 6.2-liter V8 with a 1.7-liter supercharger, direct injection, and GM’s Active Fuel Management system onboard. Torque is 630 lb-ft, top speed is 200 mph, and zero to 60 comes in 3.7 seconds. A paddle-shifted eight-speed automatic with launch control and Performance Algorithm Shifting directs the power to the back.

Suspension is comprised of a revised multi-link double-pivot MacPherson-strut up front, five-link rear out back. Stiffer front and rear stabilizers reduce body roll by 20 percent, electronic limited-slip differential and 19-inch forged aluminum wheels shod in Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires maintain grip on the road and track, and two-piece 15.3-inch front rotors with 6-piston calipers — 14.3-inch discs with 4-piston calipers in the back — help bring everything to a stop.

Other features include: Magnetic Ride Control with four selectable driving modes; enhanced aero; carbon fiber hood with air-extracting vent for reduced lift and heat; 20-way heated and vented front seats; OnStar 4G LTE with Wi-Fi; 12.3-inch instrument cluster display; and wireless inductive phone charging.

As for the CLA fighter, Cadillac CEO Johan de Nysschen admits entry-level premium offerings like the CLA and Audi A3 have put a dent in ATS sales. However, Cadillac’s entry-level model will be RWD, underpinned by the same platform that the ATS rides upon.

The CTS-V is expected to enter showrooms later this summer.

Ram unveiled the 10th trim addition to its truck lineup at the 2015 Detroit Auto Show, the 1500-based Rebel off-roader, signalling the brand’s intent to tackle Baja Valley in so doing [Live photos now available – CA].

Power for the Rebel comes from a standard 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 VVT, which produces 305 horsepower, 269 lb-ft of torque, and 25 mpg on the highway. The optional 5.7-liter HEMI V8 VVT ups the ante to 395 horsepower and 410 lb-ft of torque. Both engines send their power to the rear or all four corners via an eight-speed automatic. Gear ratio for the HEMI is 3.92 in 4×2, 3.21 in 4×4; the Pentastar is 4×4-only, with a ratio of 3.92.

Suspension includes Bilstein front and rear shocks, a 1-inch lift, air suspension, softer rear stabilizer bar, and modified alignment of its independent front suspension. Toyo’s 33-inch Open Country A/T all-terrain tires, mounted on 17-inch silver and black cast aluminum wheels, help improve on-road comfort while providing better snow traction. The combination results in a ground clearance of 10.3-inches.

The Rebel is exclusively a crew cab model with a 5-ft, 7-in bed and optional RamBox. Five colors — Granite Crystal Metallic, Bright Silver Metallic, Flame Red, Bright White, Brilliant Black — are available in either monochrome or two-tone, while the interior is done in Radar Red and Black with Light Diesel Gray and Radar Red accent stitching throughout.

Other features include: a black RAM grill in the vein of Ford’s Raptor; powder-coated billet silver skid plate; front tow hooks; LED lighting; optional backup camera; all-weather mats; and tri-fold tonneau cover.

The Rebel is due in showrooms in early H2 2015.

Porsche brought two new offerings to the 2015 Detroit Auto Show: the 911 Targa 4 GTS, and the Cayenne Turbo S [Live photos of 911 Targa 4 GTS now available – CA].

The 911 Targa 4 GTS is a 50th anniversary model celebrating the original 911 Targa, and is also the first time in its history that it has been sold as a GTS model. Thus, it acquires the 430-horsepower GTS boxer, delivering its power to all four corners via its seven-speed PDK transmission. Zero to 60 arrives in 4.1 seconds, with speed topping out at over 186 mph.

Other features for the Targa 4 GTS include a standard Sport Chrono package, four-way adjustable seats, 20-inch matte black center-lock wheels, Bi-Xenon headlamps, and black Alcantara material.

Meanwhile, the Cayenne Turbo S derives its power from the re-engineered 4.8-liter twin-turbo V8 under the hood. The mill produces 570 horsepower and 590 lb-ft of torque, most of which is sent to the back thanks to the SUV’s Porsche Traction Management system. Top speed is 176 mph, can hit nought to 60 in 3.9 seconds, and has a posted ‘Ring time of 7:59.74 minutes.

Aside from power, the Cayenne Turbo S now has 10-piston calipers on its 16.5-inch front discs; the 14.6 rear discs have four-piston calipers. Torque vectoring and chassis control help improve stability and reduce body roll respectively. Sport exhaust, carbon interior accents, and LED lighting are also available.

Both Porsches will be launched in the United States by mid-April. Price of admission for the 911 Targa 4 GTS is $132,800, $157,300 for the Cayenne Turbo S.

Hyundai is aiming hard for the Millennial market with their trucklet, the Santa Cruz Crossover Truck Concept.

Power for this proposed four-door five-passenger “urban adventure” concept comes from a 2-liter turbodiesel producing 190 horsepower, 300 lb-ft of torque, and a fuel efficiency figure north of 30 mpg. The Santa Cruz’s HTRAC AWD system puts the power to the ground, though the transmission used to direct said power wasn’t mentioned.

Other features include: expandable bed; integrated tonneau cover; Brembo brake calipers; LED fog lamps; lens-free honeycomb headlamp projectors; tie-down cleats on the roof, wheel arches and bed rails; and a footprint comparable to a small crossover.

Hyundai states that the concept isn’t aimed at traditional truck buyers, instead choosing to pursue crossover and sedan buyers looking for a vehicle that’s truck-like, but better suited to city life. No word on whether or not the automaker will make the Santa Cruz a reality, however.

Coming to Canada and the United States later this year is Ford’s “most race-ready road-legal Mustang ever,” the Shelby GT350R.

Under the bonnet of this beast is a 5.2-liter DOHC flat-plane V8, whose 500+ horsepower and over 400 lb-ft of torque make the engine the most powerful naturally aspirated unit Ford offers today. An air-to-oil cooler for the V8 and a standard cooler for the six-speed manual help the GT350R handle the hardest of track days.

Suspension is composed of revised springs, bushings and jounce bumpers, antiroll bars, a lowered ride height, cross-axis ball joints up front, and a limited-slip differential with a 3.73 axle ratio in the back.

Like its exotic sibling, the Ford GT, the GT350R was optimized for better aerodynamic performance and downforce. Key components include front and rear underbody belly pans, revised front splitter, vented hood and wheel wells, and an aggressive diffuser.

The track-day machine is also lighter than the GT350 Track Pack model by 130 pounds. Whatever Ford could remove, it did, including the rear seats, air conditioning, stereo system, trunk carpeting and floorboard, exhaust resonators, backup camera, and so on. Weight reduction is further enhanced by standard 19-inch carbon fiber wheels wrapped in Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires.

Those who prefer a little comfort in their GT350R can opt for the Electronics Packages, which includes dual-zone air conditioning and a seven-speaker audio system among its list of features.
