willbodine, I agree with you too.

For a few years in the late 80's and early 90's, I used to spend some fairly large coin to have CAR airmailed to me in the US. I loved reading the reviews, the columns by LJK Setright, etc. I even loved reading the adverts of all the used vehicles I'd never be able to buy in the US.

At least we still have EVO, which shames all the other car rags that I've ever seen, including C&D in its heyday.

As a CAR reader for over 20 years, I always considered it the ne-plus-ultra of car books. Even the large trim-size said Vogue rather than Motor Trend. What I didn't understand was the constant change of art direction every time a new editor arrived (it seemed to happen yearly.) I thought the Brits are big on tradition. I don't think the old Motor changed at all in 50 years! The French have done rien to improve C and D or R & T; in fact, their mission seems to be more ads, less copy (reviews are rarely over 300 words.) I imagine the same will apply to CARs new German overlords. I used to buy CAR monthly at the newsstand, but stopped once the US cover price exceeded $10. Viel Glueck, EMAP!

Now who on earth would that be? Well he can certainly dish it out but can he take it?
