willbodine, I agree with you too.

For a few years in the late 80’s and early 90’s, I used to spend some fairly large coin to have CAR airmailed to me in the US. I loved reading the reviews, the columns by LJK Setright, etc. I even loved reading the adverts of all the used vehicles I’d never be able to buy in the US.

As a CAR reader for over 20 years, I always considered it the ne-plus-ultra of car books. Even the large trim-size said Vogue rather than Motor Trend. What I didn’t understand was the constant change of art direction every time a new editor arrived (it seemed to happen yearly.) I thought the Brits are big on tradition. I don’t think the old Motor changed at all in 50 years! The French have done rien to improve C and D or R & T; in fact, their mission seems to be more ads, less copy (reviews are rarely over 300 words.) I imagine the same will apply to CARs new German overlords. I used to buy CAR monthly at the newsstand, but stopped once the US cover price exceeded $10. Viel Glueck, EMAP!
