Doesn't "occidental" refer to the west? The term you want is "oriental," I think.

Hey Fargo!

Your review is more then two years old. That leaves just little old me to update the thread. An Atlanta Cadillac dealer offered me a weekend test drive of a sport-tuned 2007 CTS 3.6 automatic. I wrung it out like a cheap hooker at speeds up to 125 mph.

To do this I drove the little bugger back to the North Georgia Mountains via Route 129 to Blairsville. IMHO this is the single best test drive route in the entire US. It is a multi-lane delight of 20-60 mph mountain sweepers and hairpins with plenty line of sight distances, little traffic and extra pavement to forgive mistakes. (I don't do those, but you never know.)

This is a streatch of road on which I have NEVER been bested in my supercharged, NASCAR suspended 1991 Lincoln Mark VII - even by a C5 Corvette. And quess what? That little CTS ate it for breakfast. I could even get power oversteer in the tighter turns.

Complaints? The 3.6 is unrefined and better suited to an Impala SS. So I drove the 2.8 alternative, and it is more like a Cadillac engine should be. If you want a stop-light racer you should get a V8. I ordered a stripper 2.8 Automatic with sport suspension and don't expect much competition on route 129 even so.

I did, however, order an aftermarket billet aluminum grill and stainless steel accent pieces. The CTS is still no Mark VII, but it is distinctive, capable AND has four doors.
