Nope.

Nope.

Chevy Volt. In Lutz’s own words, the Volt is the crowning achievement on his career. It never has existed. It never will exist as anything more than a test mule. He lied about the concept car looking the same as the “production” version. He lied about when it was going into testing, he lied about when it was going into production. Very optimistically speaking, Lutz has had to “revise” his estimates for its range and recharge time. This is not a car, it’s marketing.

Jim Rome (Goatee Hall of Fame inductee) periodically does a bit about a craptacular XR4Ti he owned; reading between the lines, I suspect he did not care for the vehicle.

On a side note: One time I was going into a Safeway in Seattle and, parked w/in a few spots of each other, were an XR4Ti, a Delorean & a Sterling 827. Needless to say, I took my business elsewhere…no need to shop for Cocoa Puffs in Bizaro World.

I also was plagued by ownership of an XR4Ti. I have owned over 100 cars, many of them junkers. The Merkur that I bought NEW was the worst car I ever owned. Despite getting nearly $5000 off sticker, I regretted owning it almost immediately. I owned it only 24 months, and it was in the dealer’s shop 24 times. Luckily for me, the warranty included FREE towing and rental cars. The first week, it wouldn’t start. Rusty (inside) starter. Intermittent starting problem. Fifteen trips to the shop (and pronouncements of “it’s fixed now”) before they found a defective fuel shutoff safety switch – this problem stumped all the mechanics and the experts in Dearborn. Windows always went down, sometimes went back up. On and on. The service manager hated me. The mechanics knew me by name. Every car dealer I shopped at told me they wouldn’t take it in trade for a new car, even after I had it detailed, and I had the distinct impression that they had talked to the dealer where I had bought it.
When running, it was a fun car to drive. Except that the car slowed when the AC compressor kicked in. My fifth, and LAST new Ford. I finally traded it about 1000 miles from home, and the dealer’s used car lot had two other XR4Ti s on it.
