Damn, that $500 gift card would have been worth 1500 Pounds Sterling now the currency has tanked post Brexit, but I’m not allowed to enter.

Okay, I entered, but I’ve never won anything in my life. My father used to win a door prize every time he entered, but I guess I didn’t inherit that. Used to drive me crazy.

Ok Mark , I assumed TTAC got hacked and this is spam but at second glance it seems TTAC approved this , maybe a little massage from the editor would have help my confusion, and this seems a little out there for TTAC.

As far as I’m concerned, it’s still spam. That entry guarantees that your email inbox will be stuffed with advertisements, just like your snail-mail box.

Not spam. It’s an affiliate content tie-in related to content you’ll begin seeing tomorrow. A writer pitched us on an idea that would have cost us an arm and a leg to produce on our own. The affiliate team at VS worked a deal with eBay for them to provide some products for our content. You’ll see more tomorrow.

Feels like a new low, forthcoming content or no.

        • 0 avatar

A writer pitched us on an idea that will benefit our readership. That idea was too costly given our budgetary constraints, but I still wanted to provide that content as I think you folks will find it interesting.

I engaged the affiliate team at VS to see if we could bring a retailer on board to help with this so we aren’t beholden to the manufacturers of the products we will show you over the next few weeks. eBay jumped on board to provide all those products and some gift cards for you folks.

You don’t need to enter the contest. Nobody is forcing you to do so. But when it comes to content that’s valuable but also expensive to produce, we need to find a partner to make that happen, and “The Wise Guide” is VS’s channel for affiliate relationships.

Depending on the related content, this could be good or bad.

The material here is sort of neutral: it would be tough to make a case for bias based on this one piece sponsored content.

That said, I hope the content payoff is good enough to justify this.

I think you guys will like it. Basically, we’re upgrading a 12-year-old car with all the latest tech. now offered on new vehicles using products available on the aftermarket. We’re going to start small — phone mounts, Bluetooth adapters, etc. — but there’s one big piece that I never imagined you could buy on the aftermarket at all. Stay tuned.

        Eeee!

Yeah, all I ever see advertised are pumps & pills.

But do you have to visit China for installation?

        Mark,
You do know here at TTAC, the B7B loved their 12 year old cars , right?

It’s easy to graft new tech onto an old car, Mark. Heck, I just added a bluetooth adapter to my ’03 Buick that *tunes to a radio station* that is pre-set on my radio!

        Now, how’s *that* for slick!

Next up: adaptive cruise control. I just got new glasses with an updated prescription, so the adaptation’s completely seamless.

It’s slick until you drive through an area that already has that channel, or until you get tired of the background static playing over all your music. Gimme an aux wire and a usb port for charging and I’m set

A Canadian owned web site offering a contest not open to Canadians. Go figure.

If I win, you can have my gift card.

Then again, I’m not going to enter a contest that I assuredly won’t win, but assuredly will put me on all kinds of marketing lists.

      Mark’s being kind to Canadians.

    PRNDLOL

I’ve seen plenty of contests open to both US and Canadian residents, but this one is ‘VOID IN ALL FOREIGN COUNTRIES OUTSIDE OF THE UNITED STATES’?

    On this site?

Since Canadians are not eligible, I’ll call it FAKE NEWS!

Pretty grotty. I must say this site is a mere shadow of its former self.

    Geeze guys
Give it up, all the boo-hooing over sponsored content.

Do you pay to come here, read and comment? No? So who are you to b¡tch about how the bills get paid? Who forced you to click on this? You knew what it was before you opened it. You could have simply skipped over it and went to an article you do like. But, most of you will find a reason to b¡tch there, too.

I’ll take a free lunch, but not if I have to hear about it!

    Lol, you guys are funny.
