With Nissan product boss Andy Palmer confirming that the IDx concept car will go into production, the auto world is rejoicing over the prospect of another affordable sports car. But Palmer also let slip some interesting news about the next Z, which will also see a reduction in engine size.

According to Autocar, the next Z will have a downsized turbocharged engine, likely a 4-cylinder, though Palmer didn’t discount a V6 powered Nismo variant. Hopefully we’ll see get a reduction in curb weight and footprint as well, wearing the historic badge but transitioning into the S16 Silvia that never was.

If they don't change the IDx body much from the concept, and have a stick, I am IN! The most exciting thing from Nissan since 2002 Sentra SE-R

I'm not that big of a 350z-370z fan but I do recognize that concept as an early 350z rendition, mercifully the final product looked better, but as with too many "updates" and "face lifts"then they ruined the purity with the 370z. I'm not looking forward to the idx, I've read Nissans entire press release and I'm clearly not one of the tech-savvy non-existant millennial hipster people things that they're targeting. Plus, if I want sports car from Nissan I'll pick up a 370z.

This car is a very good idea ! .. (nowadays, every sports-car form Japan is a good idea.. ! .. because they have no balls anymore to produce sth 'sporty' (..yeah, ok.. Nissan with it's GTR and 370Z is an acception ..) ... .. but this car would need cool-design and at least 250bhp (..not to make the same mistake that Toyota did with their 'Toyobaru-twins' (..I heavent't read or watch FRS,BRZ-test without mentioning that it's ..underpowered !!! ...
