Meet the car that people are identifying as the production version of the 918 Spyder. It’s gorgeous, really, and it has a lot of nice shout-outs to the incomparable 904 in its styling and proportions.
This video, which may not stay up for all we know, purports to show this production 918, interspersed with images of the concept car. While the price of the 918 is ridiculous, the hybrid powertrain is of dubious value, and the marketing verges on the positively Ipecacian, the car itself is a thing of beauty. Now all Porsche needs to do is scale it down a bit, put a turbo four in it, sell it for $39,995, and all will be forgiven.
WoW! Now, that’s what I’m talkin’ about.
That thing will almost negate all the BMW ugliness that infected us for so long.

This is why I almost hate Porsche: they can make amazing cars like this, but instead they force themselves to produce the same vw-esque design for more than four decades and awlful things like the Cayenne and the Panamera.
Oh Mylanta, that’s a beautiful nose. This car looks fantastically sexy head on. I hope that lower air intake styling makes it’s way south into the Boxster/Cayman at some point.

It looks as aesthetically pleasing as the Pontiac Solstice, but will it have IMS troubles, limited rear slip differential (only new generation Caymans do), and can you drive it faster than the speed limit without voiding the “There Is No Substitute*” warranty?

Gorgeous car! Even if they used the sort-of-lowly Subie turbo-4, I’d pay $39,995 and pay extra for the sport seats.
Definitely a beautiful car, but I’m not fond of the way the side air intakes continue all the way up past the doors and integrate with the part behind your head. It makes it seem like the doors were kind of pushed in on accident or something. Just looks weird to me.
Just like riding f@# chicks and scooters I suppose – you won’t really notice once you get underway…

Looks like a Ferrari 360 mated with a 458 for the front half which then mated with a Carrera GT mated with a DB-9 for the back half.

Funny I just looked at the picture again and realized it would seem like I was talking about the tarp the two guys are pulling off- when I was really talking about how the front half of the car looks like it’s emerging from the back half.
Looks like a new Boxster design with a big silver diaper on it. I still like it, and would probably trade in my ’07 Civic for one, if the financing was good.
If it was just a little less “melted”-looking, it would be perfect.
Be serious. The only way you’d get that beautiful design down to $39,995.00 is if the body is done by Fiberfab and it’s bolted to a VW Type 1 chassis.

I’d like to see it alongside a Boxster, it has a lot of ‘generic-Porsche’ in it, particularly the central tub – I wonder if that is shared?

This a really an amazing car 918 spider . I will love to drive that car . This cars engine power , great look , impressive fuel economy can Impress any New sport car buyer . This car can give good fight in market with other sport cars .
