Hyundai Veloster Turbo Priced At $22,725

Finally, the real story on the Hyundai Veloster Turbo pricing is here. $22,725 (including the $775 destination fee). A 6-speed automatic is another $1,000.

With 201 horsepower and 38 mpg highway, the Veloster Turbo has the Mini Cooper S and Fiat 500 Abarth beat on paper in those two areas, but faces a significant battle when it comes to outright driving enjoyment. The base Veloster isn’t the most engaging car, and the Mini Cooper S and 500 Abarth seem to have that part of the equation nailed down, as well as having whatever prestige one can get from owning a European car.

We’ll be driving the Veloster Turbo in a couple weeks, and definitive answers will be available as soon as the embargo lifts.

I would pass on this even as a Hyundai fan, I drive a 2012 Accent SE. I am only 5 feet 6 and it makes me constraphobic in there. I have zero reason to believe a lot of people will buy this over a GTI which is not much more money. I see serious discounts on the way.

I don't know what "constraphobic" means, but the Veloster is, and feels, very roomy inside, particularly with the panoramic roof. It's a mistake to compare cabins between the Accent and the Veloster. They are completely different! I think the MINI and the Veloster are very comparable in this area. Both are much more capacious inside than it would appear from the exterior.

Completely not interested until they fix that ugly grille.

ah yes, a cheap, fast, hungry guppy that is more than kind of ugly. at this point i am not interested but sometimes that changes as a car grows on me. have to see.

I'm thoroughly enjoying my Fiat Abarth. Check 'em out, if you're in the market for a fun car that will hold its value.
