Good work on sticking to your guns. I think the buyer may have got a little hung up on the process though (but they have to do with the excitement of the purchase). I approach car buying as a predator. I’m a bastard customer and always argue a price a few grand under what I’ll actually pay, then the dealer thinks they are doing a good job making me break my own price ceiling.
As noted, one of the better weapons is silence.
As for the value of buying second hand, there is a definite advantage from an economic stand point, but there is some level of pride saying no-one has ever owned it before you. Can you get over that?
