GM Ramps Up The Corvette ZR1

It's day two of the North American International Auto Show pressstravaganza, and our man Montgomery is up with the angels, beating all those hung-over scribes to the showroom floor for a sneak peak of the new Corvette ZR1. Surprisingly, the vehicle code-named the Blue Devil– named after GM CEO Rick Wagoner's beloved alma mater's Blue Devils basketball team– is now slate gray. With blue brake calipers. Enjoy Bill's shots as we prepare our assault on the suits who put this kind of stuff, and the less palatable fare, on your plate. Click through to hear our man express suitable podcasted reverence.

Great info! GM needs to make the front splitter removable a la the 2000 Mustang Cobra R.

What I really want to know is....are any of the ZR1's goodies (brakes, magnetic ride) going to be available on the Z06?

So Bill....could you hear the blower at idle? I'd imagine maybe a faint whistle? If you're familiar with the Z06's idle...is there any difference?

Doc, the Z06 is likely to get its mojo back come 2010. More to the point, GM better put the carbon fiber roof, Magnaride, Michelin gumballs, ceramic brakes, etc on their lightest, best handling vehicle. To not let the Z06 soak up the ZR1's upgrades next year would be an absolute shame.
