Imagine the press if they could have mustered 6000. Or more.

Imagine if Rick Wagoner and Bob Lutz were there with them.

A friend of mine recently joked that GM should just show families of GM employees, and have an announcer say “If you don’t buy this Saturn, these people will go hungry.”
I think that’s what they were trying to do in this case. It’s not a rally to show support, it’s a pity plead to the press to stop encouraging GM’s demise, as they see it.

The only thing sillier would have been placards with;
UAW Here To Stay.
UAW Bondholders: We’re Digging In.
(I’m not anti-union per se).

From the Freep:
The press conference opened with a three-minute video featuring the good news about GM coming from the mouths of its employees and Southfield-based J.D. Power & Associates.
Fosgard said the video was shot in black and white film to save money, a recurrent theme at this year’s show.
Hey Fosgard – ever heard of digital video or even video tape?

“Fosgard said the video was shot in black and white film to save money”
Wow, what a fool. Black and white film hasn’t been a money saver for at least two decades. In video the statement makes no sense at all. The same cameras, tape, disc or other storage media is used no matter if for “color” or “black and white”. No money to be saved.
More likely they were going for a retro newsreel look, which can be cool and attention getting if done right. Saving money has nothing to do with it.
Maybe Fosgard was joking, I hope????
